Title: the brewster compared to its cusion
Post by: stealth on July 31, 2009, 04:53:14 AM: We all know are new plane the brewster and some are saying it took off a carrier and wondering why cant we have it with a tail hook well number 1 because the brewster never took off a carrier edleast not the one on are game it.Was the Brewster F2A-3 Buffalo wingspan 35ft top speed 321mph armament 4 x .5in machine guns length 26ft 4in it was the first monoplane fighter to serve in the US Navy aircraft carriers it went in to sevice 1939.It soon was replaced by the wildcat I hope I awnsered yer questions about why does'nt the brewster have a tail hook.:)

there both brewsters just diffrent kinds:) one was used for to take off land and the other was made for takeing off a carrier

I didn't know that, how many of the CV-Brewsters were made?

Post by: 10001212 on July 31, 2009, 07:57:31 AM: It beat the wildcat in the initial competition, but the Brewster company has "issues'. It wasnt a bad design and could have been improved, but the company was taken over by the govt and consentrated on other areas during the war.

Because the Finns did not have aircraft carriers: our Brewster is a B-239, a different animal than what the USN was flying.

I know why a civil war broke out amongst these savage birds before the Polar bears could find them.

Very crisp and responsive for such a slow, EW bird. No great weakness I can see except for the top speed.

I am far more impressed with this airplane then I thought I would be. I thought it would end up a hangar 'ho.

"Well done" to the modelers. The Finns ended up with a light weight agile bird that the AH modelers appear to have recreated nicely.
