Title: Posting limits
Post by: Larry on July 31, 2009, 05:13:35 AM
I wish that if your BB account is less then three months old then you can make only one new topic every 24 hours outside of the 'Help and Support Forums'.

I'll take the bait;

That's stupid.

Yes, because spamming the boards with useless threads isnt.

I'll add - no posting allowed in wishlist forum for the first month either. a popup explaining how to use the search feature and structure wishlist items the first time you post in here would be good too...

You could also have some patience with the new crowd and explain them how to improve, instead of flaming them for their poor use of grammer.
It's too easy to do that.

Or not visit the bbs untill summerbreak is over :D

I'm sorry.  I just can't force myself to take any piece of writing seriously when the grammar and punctuation is that atrocious.

Ik weet dat de juiste grammatica in Nederland wordt onderwezen. Tevreden gratie mijn afschuwelijke Nederlandse grammatica, niettemin.

The problem with that is he'd just figure out eventually that he needs 4 - 8 BBS id's.

So instead of learning to ignore one id, you'd have to watch and learn them all.

Grammar, grammar, grammar. Why does everyone like to pretend that there not human, and therefore, never make mistakes and forget (ya right, lazy is more like it. For me two) to use check their grammar every post.

And you have to remember, newbs learn by posting stupid threads and getting them flamed. But more helpfull is to tell them that their topic has been posted before, to search for it, and to bump it up if they want to. They need advice, not "save the kittens", and "what do you have against kittens", and always a favorite among nickles  and up, "USE YOUR SEARCH".   I just can't understand why people have so little patients with newbs.

Because I'm not a doctor (I just play one on TV)

Oh, and I don't have patience, either.

Oh, and as an answer..........

Because proper spelling and grammar , in any language, are the root of all fruitful communication.
Also perhaps out of self respect.

Perhaps this calls for hazing? Any newcomer will endure a three days of flaming, poking, prodding, and baiting from three elected veteran B.B.s members. My vote:

AckAck
Masherbrum
Moot

That's because it takes a while for it to travel the time zone differences.
