Everytime i try to take up a B-17 the screen starts to flicker and i can hear the engines start up but the screen is frozen and blinking in the tower.. Ive tried the other bombers and i have no problems its just with the B-17. Any Ideas?
-
Need to see a DXDIAG output please.
-
Im a noob where do i find that info sir?
-
start menu/ run / type dxdiag
-
As TexasTC said but then go to;
'save all information', save it as a text file, open the text file and post the contents in here. Most people don't post everything, but you are more than welcome to do so if you're unsure.
-
I used to have that problem. Was a combination of Video and Sound driver issues. A DxDiag report might aid in determining if you have a similar issue.

if you need more Skuzzy let me know what ya need
-
1) Make sure you do not have the "Detailed Terrain" option selected in Options->Graphic Details->Advanced.
2) Make sure you are running the game in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.
3) Make sure you are runinng the game with a "Maximum Texture Size" of 256, in the game's "Video Settings".
4) Try not to run the game resolution higher than 1440x800.
See what that does for you.
-
Ok the only thing i have selected in the advanced is the Bump Map deal.... i changed the max to 256 and i already had it selected to 800x600 hope it does the trick thanks Skuzzy.
-
Just tried the B-17 it did the same thing as before still cant up one.
-
Wait a minute.
Your computer has less than 1GB of RAM. There is no way for the game to run reliably. Vista needs 1GB of RAM for itself.
Take a look at your page file usage: Page File: 1118MB used, 934MB available
I am assuming that the DXDIAG was taken when the desktop was idle. 1.1GB of swap is already being used.
-
Yeah well kinda funny i had no issues before the patch. -sigh What do you recommend for my crappy laptop?
-
It should have been criminal to sell a laptop with Vista to begin with, but to offer it with less than 2GB of RAM is just wrong.
I am surprised you can run much of anything without extreme sluggishness.
I cannot make a recommendation. I just know that less than 1GB of RAM is a problem. Whether it is the actual problem is hard to say. It could simply be a contributing factor.
-
Backup your AH folder.
Reinstall the game.
See if that works before you put back any backedup file.
-
Phantomz if I could I would take that laptop back to where you purchased it if it was sold to you in the
current state your Dxdiag shows. Anything that comes with vista usually comes with 2 to 4 gig of memory.
Vista requires 1 gig just to run vista. Whoever sold that or manufactured it should be locked up for fraud.
-
God I hate Vista... XP is better but isn't perfect, far from it. Don't they sell portable RAM for Laptops? May help. Run defragmentation to help speed up your computer then run disk cleanup to get more Memory. What kind of anti-virus do you have? I've seen some take up 1/2 of the computer's RAM.
