Work-around.
1. Main Menu. Current FPS 12-27
2. Video Settings.
3. Max Texture Size -> change to new value (128-1024).
4. Back at main menu - freezes disappear.
5. Enter any arena. Current FPS 59.
This is getting annoying and depressing - I wanna fly but this workaround is a bit of a PITA. I thought that when I changed it to 1024, the issue went away - til I reloaded it again. :(
My DXDIAG says everything is ok.

Have you tried this?
Figured how to 'fix' it. On the start up screen when my mouse is choppy I just go to video settings and click'ok' boom chop gone and vidmem fine. Works, don't know why

Got me again.
I have to do this almost everytime I play

This was one of my problems too. I log into offline play and let things set for a couple minutes then deploy a plane and the mouse freezing problem stops. I exit offline play then log into online play and it plays smooth.
It ain't right but it works.
I am going to try the OK button thing and see if that's quicker though.

I stand corrected. Patch 3 now disables this work-around for me. Game is not playable at all. No matter what graphic setting, what resolution, amount of detail, view distance, right from the main menu, game is choppy with 1/2 second pauses every 2 seconds. Frame-rate is 10-20fps. Patch 2 with workaround - FPS was 59 cranked.

That seems to be constant theme with lotsa folks, and it's not due to an inadequate machine, they figger it out

Have you tried changing the maximum pre-rendered frames setting of your video card? Higher numbers means more frames rendered on the card before being sent to the monitor. Default is usually 2-3. Theory to higher numbers is smoother animation/motion, but possible side effect of high setting can be lagging inputs like mouse, keyboard and maybe even joystick.

I get this problem in the first screen - I solved it by alt tabbing out of AH to desktop, then going back in and the mouse then works fine

HEY - that worked! :x
Now with this work-around, they gotta fix it. :D

Good :aok
Problem for me occurs when the clipboard loads, mouse moves OK before that, freezes when clipboard loads. I have no problems running the game. Wierd.

The ALT TAB thing works for me too. Much faster than my work around.
Good find!
Now if we can figure out why the CPU is being rocked back and forth causing this mouse freezing problem.
