I think the Arado is going to really make the main arena more interesting, and it was a very wise choice for HTC to put in as the first perk bomber. It is very fast, but it has no guns, and a very light bombload. This keeps the plane from being an arena balance upsetter by itself.
But get a few arado's flying together, and you can really put a hamper on the other countries forward progress. Last night, the rooks were against the wall, and only really had one clear airfield to launch from. We put together 2 groups of 2 Arados, and went south knocking out all the fuel at the enemy's frontline bases. Want to do an HQ raid? Send an Arado out ahead of the main force to knock out the radar or a few Arado's to kill the Fighter Hangars at the fields otw to the HQ.
The possibilities look like a barrel of fun. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Ya me and Duma and Bluedog and Blitz went on a midnight raid by moonlight last night, was amazing, i friggin nik pinged me (figures) and I lost an engine and had to jettison bombs and rtb, bluedog got shot down but the other 2 went in and leveled the enemy's FH casueing them a loss of superiority over the field. A capture followed quickly.
So far I have had a few close calls.
1 time a i was over near a37 and a tempest got behind me, i got going so fast (around 575)that i blew off all means of steering accept rudder, that was an interesting landing. Then another time 1 190 tried to ho me and i ended up barrel rolling and diving below him and almost augered,
With the price of that thing whenever you see a fighter thats above you ar straight ahead...its is scary.

The Knights last nigh used an arado to hit the radar's at the frontline bases along the Bishop's southern boarder. The population counters were still operating, but nobody paid much attention to them.
Bishops lost a base to a sneak attack.

StSanta has 1 kill and has been killed 0 times in the Fw 190D-9 against the Ar 234.
I got one woohoo!

I agree it has possiblities. Especially in NOE long range strikes with 2 or more.

Actually it doesent have a prayer that way, Why?? because no matter how low you are (even sitting on ground) you still show a dar bar, low level arados in enemy territory would be blown to bits because their position would be known almost instantly and they would have no ability to dive away.
If HTC changed the radar to where planes flying below 500-300 feet AGL did not show up on radar AT ALL (which would be realistic) it would would broaden the arado's capabilities and actually make it worth 70 points.

I've found that if you want to have a decent range and get up to speed on the arado, you have to climb to about 20k and spend 5 minutes accelerating. By this time you've used a lot of fuel. It is definately a fun plane to fly though, but unless in groups they can't hope to accompish much more than a pin-salamander to the enemy.

Actually I saw a 3-plane Arado strike go in quite effectively the other night. I flew escort (HA!) in a Dora, almost keeping up.
But one high P51 spotting us would have made for at least one less Arado.
Radar makes them visable, and I think makes a NOE raid well behind lines impossible. But this was a front-line base (or near it) where there were numbers of planes in sector. I suspect what happened was that anyone who looked simply saw a couple more cons on radar and never had any reason to specifically chase them. The biggest danger we faced was a unlucky random encounter.
The only advantage to the NOE attack was speed. We got there very quickly, and coordinated with a bunch of other Jabo's. Otherwise I agree that alt makes the bloody things impossible to intercept.

Arado is amazing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Not given enough credit for its impact. I have 3 kills of ground vehicles in it (2 when bombing a vehicle hangar), and have never lost one to enemy fire (It's damn survivable). I also have the single Typhoon kill against one it seems (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Ya duma, ive never been downed by enemy fire either, try using it against panzers and ostis, dive from 6k down to 3 or 4 @ around 430mph, by the time they saa ya you have dropped yer bomb and turned. Ive killed a few vehicles this way, I just wish the radar was more realistic so that you could run deep NOE raids on factories, bases and fleets.
I already know how I would do it
cruise in at abour 300 feet. when yer about half a grid square away from your target fire the RATOs and climb to 8k and level out at about 400 mph and drop bomb sharp diving turn back to 300 feet and petal to the meatl home.. over un-even terrain it would be a REAL rush..especally at night (not sure id try it at night) <sigh> but as is...it will never happen that way..

Actually bases can be bombed quite safely from altitude of 3 kft, of course that requires quite lot of speed.
I did few offline tests, headed to medium base below radar, few minutes before target I popped up to 3 kft, leveled and bombed FH which did go down nicely. Immediately after drop 234 must be turned away from target and flak, either by diving horizontal turn or immelman.
Because of it's speed, Ar 234 can drop bombs far away from bases flak coverage, even in low altitudes. This makes long climb period unneccessary, provided that Ar 234 can get to target without noticing. Even if somebody scrambles from target for interception, Ar 234 will be safe.

That would be great if the enemy didnt spot you and track you on radar from the second you spawned on your runway, and then climbed the extra 5 k need to catch ya.
Like I said, we need to be able to go under radar, or else taking the arado into even a somewhat hot zone below 10k is not smart, you may live through a few sorties, but considering you will have to have OVER 100 good sorties in the arado in order to earn enough points for another..
anyone had a 100 mission streak without dieing yet?

I have 1 AR-234 kill and I did it in a P-38, ran into a formation of 2, dove on them and in the same instant they dove to the deck as well, they were juking and jiggin all over the place, at over 450 mph, yet in my 38 I could barely move my plane at all, I hit one set it on fire and turned to the other one. OUt of cannon ammo and after using 1300 rounds I closed the distance to 400 speed leveling off at 400 and 234 starting to pull away range 750 popped off 300 rounds saw numerous strikes and saw 234 splash into the water. Other 234 escaped and made his bomb run. Now a little tip for the 234 users, keep the rato packs and use them when you really need to. After tests do not get level speed above 430. A diving plane will not catch you, engage the rato pack and watch your level speed increase 100 mph!! I did recieve almost 8 perk points for shooting that 234 down, landing in a storm cloud over runway and not being able to see anything.

I use the Arado as a tool that prevents the enemy from waging an offensive war.
