Long time GE/Frank...  y'old enema you  :devil

Still have that beautiful original you did for me hanging on my wall at work.  Along with a P51 print and a FW190 schematic (The 51 is visible - lower right, the FW is on the side wall not in the photo).  And if you look carefully on the left, you can see the inkjet'd version of BB standing in front of his ride.

I don't "fly" anymore, but I've got about 10 pieces of aviation art in my office in addition to models I built of an ME109, P38, and F4U.  And you'll be glad to know that your paintings are more prominently displayed than my Trudgian or even my Robert Taylor  :aok

-sigh- 1527 .. Stil .. Dan .. dood.

You know I think I learned more about air combat fighting you than any other single person in the world.
I know it seemed pretty hopeless when you would land what .. 15 GE kills in yer spit 9
.. because I kept comin up, knowing you were there waiting,
.. I learned.
Slowly.
Painfully.
As did we all.

It was my honor to be able to do that painting for you and the Musketeers.
You guys were *lethal* .. I remember the C-land channel squawking:
'Muskies over C-1!! Don't Go There!!'
The Hunt was ON!! .. I'd get with Krazy Kat or Hoppy or Pho .. even the dreaded Mullah,
..and we'd try to cut one of yas down on the way back to A-Land,
..end up shot down more often than not :)

Very good times :)

I spent many hours and dollars  :O when it was on GEnie. I started out as BulletMagnet then later changed my handle to Maverick when I joined the 13th TAS. I have friends that I know and talk to to this day from those old days back in 93 / 94. I lost a lot of sleep trying to land multi kill missions. Problem was I just kinda never wanted to stop fighting once I had those kills. It was great fun flying nap of the earth missions to get the  carrier when folks were trying to up there. I still remember the screams when we shut down one side by killing all of their fields.  :lol

GE,

Yeah.. it was the same for me starting out.  I can't remember all the names of the guys who used to own me, but I do remember they were mostly from A-Land (I was in B-Land when I started), probably DoK's crew.  Then after awhile it was the DFA.  I never was any good at strategy though. I remember someone put me in charge of a squad in one of those scenario's, thinking that cuz I could shoot stuff down, I must have a high tactical IQ or something.  Was definately NOT the case! lol

Your painting is a legend amongst the Muskies.  If I were to die tomorrow, I'm sure B-Man would be callin my wife asking for that painting.  :rofl
I might of been able to shoot down some people in AW, but I could never even approach the artistic talent you have, be it with mouse, pen, plotter, or brush.  I hope your still painting.  Do you have a website displaying your work?

I dont have a 'site' .. I do have a bunch of stuff up on photobucket.

http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q260/1grayeagle/GEart/

Once I was into harness as a game artist I didn't do anymore painting, was too caught up in 3dStudio then Max then Multigen's Creator.

Now I am gettin back into Max again .. the latest experiment is a vette concept I wanted to do, then I imported my 3dStudio Mustang, and then I imported my 3dMax B-17 (from when Max had just come out)

After bein 'out of it' for awhile when the falcon V company dried up and blew away ..leavin me about as broke as I have ever been,
..went thru some tough years learnin to be a Nurse ..was a good run for a few years as a Nurse, enjoyed most of it.

Now I am aimin right at a 3d Artist gig again .. I just cannot 'do' Nurse anymore.
Their 'bad' days are unimaginable.

I joined AH2 2 years ago and Ive seen the guys who winged up with me as noobs get better and watched the enviroments and flight models grow into a sim that as of late defeats IL2 and other noteable competitors.

AH2 will last for a long time, we will all make sure of that.

Seeing this air warrior stuff makes me realize alot of you guys have been around dogfighting before I learnt to walk and that makes me laugh :D

And this artwork should be collected into a gallery its truly spectacular we should pool and start a museum :D

Aye, GEnie ... a foul beast if ever there was one:

And, while the technology was certainly not what it was today, there are things you can get away with using good ole pixel editing of cockpit art that don't always translate with a 3D mesh:

(http://gonzoville.com/DoK/AW/images/bloodpig.gif) (http://gonzoville.com/DoK/AW/images/blooddgn.gif)

(That thing "etched" into the AB-17 windscreen was a calibrated low-altitude bombsight.)

Hi fellas! Formerly known as F4F on AirWarrior.  Was the CO of the <Red Devils> squadron. We used to head2head with <33rd>. We were a snot nose youngins crew vs. An old salty flying squadron. Yea. They whooped us and schlacked us - but it was fun as all get out.

I remember people would whisper me and asked if I was a lesbian -- I was barely a teenager then! LoL.

Regardless - this game brings back great memories and Ive found its just as habit forming lol

Yeah I still miss Air Warrior and to this day won't touch anything by EA.  I particularly loved being a Game Assistant and discovering there were other arenas apart from the FR one I had played in exclusively until then.  The visible presence of an 'Airwar' in the noisiest of arenas had the majority of players playing nicely (at least during the off-peak hours that I covered, being in the UK - I believe things got livelier later at night).  I was mainly there to help afterall and enjoyed every minute.   :aok

I dug this thread up and brushed it off having done a few searches for my 13th TAS, B-Land squad-mates from Air Warrior.  :x

I tracked them into Warbirds years ago and now I guess some are still flying here.

Major YBJAFO, now retired, 13th TAS Strike Wing, Air Warrior

Recently back to AH, but fondly remember 13TAS from AW as well.

Speedster (still remember my ID numbers from playing AW on GENIE and then DELPHI)

Never had a 'tail number' myself. Started in with AWIII. Maybe the older Air Warriors would be kind enough to anoint me with one? Start them (the tail numbers) out where they left off? After all, I'm an 'old soul' and my heart's in the right place.  If I could manage to have either a 69 or 007 in mine that would be nice. :D

You mention the A-26 ... and I can still remember an afternoon in a Ju 88 in the Euro map annoying the hell out of A-landers by dropping them out of the sky using this lead-sponge beast.

I loved the vader. Almost as much as the YAK. Using the flaps in a loop to get it to lurch forward out turn fighting turnfighters.

And I remember one flight ruining an entire mission. I was dicing in to lay waste to the feild when a mission suddenly appeared on the runway and let loose with my eggs on that instead. Got 11 kills

I remember right after it went down they threatened to throw me off the AW boards for saying I hoped EA's exec families all contracted an incurable form of syphilis.

I was like "And that is suppossed to scare me why?? The game is gone. What excactly is it you think you are booting me from?."

I remember JBKidd, 8bird, Bamma, 7lobo, LPN, just to name a few that always gave me good fights.
Most flew in RR Pac2, although I know JB flew in the FR Pac arena.

There were a bunch.  The ones I remember fighting a lot waaaaaaaay back when were Airmigan, Wild Thing, and BushWhacker.  There was also HiTech -- whatever became of that guy?

Old scores from Air Warrior:

:rofl  To think we were warned what would happen by the Janes players as their game was also bought and subsequently closed down by EA.  Like everyone else, I didn't want to believe it at the time but they were proved correct.  :(

Played that for a long time offline before I eventually found WarBirds and went MMO. I love when you get talking to someone who says they've been flying sims 'since the old days', and they have no idea what AirWarrior is. Or Chuck Yeager's Air Combat for that matter...

I've been in 'em since abou 1997 (when i got my first computer), but my brother in law, who says he's been flying them 'forever', didn't actually get started until about 2005 and has never flown any of the WWII MMO ones.  :O

Never flown WWII MMO!???  Ye gods.  Do you tell him that, with regard to flight simulation, he's the equivalent of a wet-behind-the-ears sissy who does not deserve your sister's hand in marriage? ;)  Do you tell him what he's missing?  Do you tell him that's like someone saying, "Yeah, I'm quite a car buff" when he has never driven anything but a Ford Pinto?

Sadly it's my wife's brother, so I'm stuck with him. Both he and his father are 'avid flight simmers' who've never done anything more than flying around in circles in FSX.

I Had to prove to them once that the P-51 they'd bought wasn't broken and was, indeed, possible to take off successfully. I then flew it the hell out of it for about twenty minutes before landing and logging out while they just stared open mouthed. My only jab was 'If you can only fly jets, you can't really fly.'

There is one other angle.

I know two folks (my Dad and a friend at work) who regularly fly scenarios as bomber pilots and love it.  You can get up to speed a lot faster in bombers, and they are less hectic to fly than fighters.  Folks who fly jets in Flight Simulator, practicing navigation and such, might be more inclined to like bombers.

You could try introducing them to that?

(I cannot fathom people who like airplanes or flight simulators but don't love Aces High.)
