When I start the game up and click on video settings it gives me a white screen followed by an error message notifying me that AH2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have restarted the comp but that doesnt seem to help. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
-
I've had this happen only 3 times since the New Version has been released.
-
Need a DXDIAG output.

I should add, I was just playing in Orange, not in Video Settings or the like.

I am having some stuttering in game as well. I was running the omega drivers but downloaded the new nvidia last night which seems to have calmed the my frame rates down a bit. Thank you for your help.

Have you tried reducing your paging file to 2GB max? Just something to try.
-
Just got the WSOD crash in LW blue...strange...10 alt, puffy ack from ships...then white screen crash.

I changed it to 2GB when I first started playing with no effect. If you think it would help I will give it another go...
Looking at my dxdiag can you tell me what I should be able to run graphics wise in AH?
-
No. I haven't touched the new version. You do have the graphical processing power for the advanced graphics, though.
-
I don't know if this is related to the problem, but yesterday I tried to run AHII with no audio (disabled sound card from Hardware / Device Management) and got the described symptom - white screen followed by the illegal operation (performed by AHII), every time I tried to launch the game.
So if it is sound related, try different sound drivers?
Edit. what I might also give a try is to chk what kind of power scheme you are using: turn it to "always on" and give it another try. Just to make sure your rig aint too "green" by trying to save energy and turning off the devices that are not in use - the laptop way. This (by my kitchen computer whiz logic) might cause the similar effect as "disabled sound device" that I described. Doesn't hurt to try anyways.

Ok it seems my problems have gotten worse. I have the spinning knee board of death now even though I have the amd patch running and I am still unable to access my video settings without the WSOD and the error message. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thank you,
jappa

If the clipboard is spinning, then you will have to run the game in Windows 98/ME compatibility mode, regardless of the other software installs to fix it. AMD's optimizer does not fix all instances of this problem.

Thanks Skuzzy. I ran it in 98/ME mode without the spinning kneeboard of death but was still unable to access my video settings without freezing. I decided to completely remove AH from my comp and start over. Will let you know if a fresh download does any good.
