Title: Does the P-39 seem...off?
Post by: Nemisis on August 08, 2009, 03:06:11 PM
I just flew the P-39 and if fliped over for no reason. No damage, not colision, no control movments, no nothing.

And I crashed into a tree and died. And come to think of it, whenever I fly it it seems kinda willfull.
Has anyone else noticed any of this?

Flipped? What speed were you flying? Were you pulling Gs? It shouldn't just flip on you in level flight... check your joystick calibration.

I was in a turn with the wings at around 15 degrees. I was flying at 170 mph, and at 300ft as I was scouting for tanks. I would say 1.5 g's MAX. Well no controll movments isn't entirely accurate. I didn't move it in the sense that it was still when I fliped.

The problem was very simmilar to loosing my left aileron. My guess would be that maby-for some unknown reason-I lost my aileron and there was some lag between the time I lost it and it's apperance on the damage display.

That is the only reason that might fit. I can't think of anything else. If that is what happend then maybe it's a bug. I was the only plane in the area and I was about 1K away from my base and friendly gv's were infront of me. So it wasn't a wirb, ost, or that one halftrack.

I've noticed since the new release that auto trim doesn't always stay engaged.  I'll go afk and come back to the tower, text says you have crashed, not you've been shot down.  It has happened with me watching as well.  Auto trim on for a couple of minutes, next thing you know my aircraft is rolling.  I'm not touching a thing.

I should note I'm not flying a 39 as the op is but may be a related problem.

Check for stick spiking.

you probably just snap rolled it. P-39 can be tough to control sometime.

Try recalibrating. Every now and then I lose calibration, which can cause problems controlling the aircraft. Being at that low altitude only compounds it.

Auto trim will not disengage without stick input. Your calibration is off, if only slightly.

Has anyone noticed the roll rate is slower now?

It may be my imagination from being gone so long, but i could swear its more pigish now in the roll, even with the wing gondolas off :(

It seems like that to me two. I think some stuff was changed in the new beta version.

Read the readme file.  All the changes to the game are listed in there.  The only plane that had flight model redone was the Me163.

HTC finally got the flight model correct. With the whole arse end gone, pilots can see what's behind them now  :D

Taken up a few P-39s, I have not noticed any change, and I do fly them in the MA.

which P39?  what fuel loadout?  did you have any fuselage stores onboard (DT or B) wing gunpods loaded (39Q)?

the 39s do get squirrely under 180 IAS given they are being driven to extremes.....

Are you using a saitek X52 joystick?  If so, I get this problem a lot.  You have to open the control panel for the stick and readjust it by holding the crosshair in the middle and unplugging the wire then plugging it back in while the stick is in the center.  Don't know why this happens but it does.

I landed kills in a 39 tonite.  Clearly something is wrong with the modeling!

Come to think of it, the P-39D is also not really userfriendly either.

I fly the P-39s frequently. I didn't notice any changes when I last flew it (P-39Q a few days ago). Landed 5 kills defending a base. Got into a 1v1 with a C.205, which never had a chance against the Q-ship, Co-E, Co-Alt.

My regards,

Widewing

Not much of a vulch, run, vulch, run plane?

Well, it might be good at that, I don't really know. All I know is that I flipped. While searching for enemy tanks.

Sounds like you need to hire a new plane captain and pre-flight crew.
