Title: weird dreams
Post by: sandwich on August 09, 2009, 11:49:12 AM
last night i had the weirdest dream ever.

also SPOILERS FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDINT SEE GRAN TOURINO!!!

It started out familiarly and i was watching the asian kid in gran tourino attempt to steal clint eastwood's car, all of a sudden liberty prime from fallout 3 came in shouting something about communism before tripping and vaporizing the back of his garage.
After this it cuts to him sitting on his porch with dogmeat drinking beers.
Then the scene where taub gets beat up happened and liberty prime goes to the gangsters house to get some revenge.

Liberty prime(after the gangster steps out of the house) throws a mini nuke at him which does not explode but knocks him to the ground, like a big metal football. Liberty prime then preceeds to vaporize him with his laser and then shouts
"DEMOCRACY IS NON NEGOTIABLE!" at the "gangster" which at that point has been reduced to a torso.

Then the house gets shot up and liberty prime locks taub in the basement while telling him "THE LAST DOMINO FALLS HERE!".

He then leaves to go fight the gangsters.
He goes to the house and wakes up the neighborhood.

When everybody is outside he scrams to the gangsters "FREEDOM IS THE SOVEREIGN RIGHT OF EVERY AMERICAN. DEMOCRACY IS NON NEGOTIABLE. THE LAST DOMINO FALLS HERE!"

The gangsters preceed to open fire on liberty prime covering the view of him with dust.

He shouts out "COMMUNIST FORCE DETECTED ON AMERICAN SOIL, LETHAL FORCE ENGAGED!!"
He throws a mini nuke at the house and vaporizes the remaining gangsters with his laser.

Lberty prime walks down the road with dogmeat while the gran tourino end music is played.

Does anybody else have a weird dream they would like to share with us?

I think you need to turn of the pc/game console and go outside. Talk to people (preferably a proffesional in the mental health sector)  :pray

i dont think i need mental help or extra sunlight.
i beat fallout 3 and broken steel in the same day.
my experience shows how life experiences can(in the short term) influence mental function and provoke a certain type of dream.

Back from 2006 or 2007, copy-pasta from text document

Strange dream this morning.

Seems like I was watching a movie. Live on TV and in plain view, there was a genuine 1902 steam locomotive sitting on a bridge. There were rocket pods on the back of the coal tender because what they were going to do was fire it up about 1/2 mile down the highway and off the bridge into the water. The next one to go was a vehicle that looked halfway between the Mach 5 and a 1955 Ford Thunderbird.

They never did show the launching. Suddenly, I was in a vehicle. To the left of me was another old steam engine sitting there. Slowly, it starts to roll south on the tracks and a few seconds later, we are driving north on a county highway. The scene more or less makes you feel you are watching the credits of a movie. The colors of everything is a little grainy and not that bright. Has the feeling of a 1950's American countryside. But, something is wrong. I look at the automobiles parked in the driveways and the occasional junkyard. They are not 50's vehicles; they are mid to late 80's era vehicles. That confuses me, because I thought we were in the 50's, not 80's. We arrive at our destination, a high school. There seems to be an event going on, looks like preparations for a "Cannonball Run" type race. Naturally I want in, but I don’t have a vehicle.

I walk a few blocks and look what I found! It’s an auto garage owned by Vanscrew (Don’t laugh). I know he keeps a Sherman there, so I was going to "borrow" (steal) it. I know where he hides it at in a secret bay deep inside the garage, but its gone. What I do next is walk around until I find him sitting at a desk reading something. I said to him "Hey, get your Sherman!" He looks up and isn’t really that interested, so he goes back to
reading. Then, I say to him "They are spawning and easy! (referring to the Cannonball run type race)" All of a sudden he jumps up with these words...."Lets go!"

EDITORS NOTE - Now it gets weird.

He goes to a place in a wall and pushed a few buttons, a door appears! He takes us on a long and tedious trip of hidden doorways and underground hallways while singing and dancing to the song "Pure Imagination" (sung to the exact word how the original Willy Wonka sung it). He even does a trick by sliding down a pole and going right through the floorboards, then appearing behind another hidden door smiling and singing. The entire
song is sung word for word. When we arrive at his hidden bay where I looked at originally, he says with a startled yell "Its gone!" I already knew this because I went straight here before I went to his office. So much for a secret bay, eh? While thinking of what to do next, all of a sudden it came to me. I say out loud "Why don’t we just take my Tigers?" We walk a block and there they are, three brand new Tiger tanks. (We are in the late 80's, don’t ask how I got Tigers)

I climb into my Tiger and get it started up. Everything checks out fine so I move myself into the turrent and sit at the gunner's position. Wouldn’t you know it, I can drive my tank while sitting in the turrent. Headset is put on and do a radio check. Vans and one of my squaddies (unknown who that was) all check out good. Aw crap, the race has started. Since we can only go 25 mph, the smart thing to do is to take shortcuts through the town and pick off the cars one by one.

I am puttering through a middleclass neighborhood along a sharp curve enjoying the sights. Everyone has such a nice house and nice yards. I think to myself about how I wish I had a nice house and a nice yard. As the road straightened I shift into 3rd and then make my way to 5th. Leaving the residential neighborhood, the surrounding turn into a business district. Suddenly...ZOOM! One of the racers flies by me. Turning 90 degrees to the right into the intersection, I pull into pursuit. They seem to be only driving about 20-25 mph, so surprisingly I catch up to them and pass this right up. For a brief second, I think about how can a Tiger pass up a contestant in the race, but it quickly leaves my mind as I see another racer. I get into the sights of my turrent and check my loadout. Hmmm....92 HE rounds. Push the button on my turrent (The firing mechanism has the exact look and feel of my X-52 stick...weird!) and check my AP rounds. Reading says zero. Thinking its a mistake, I flip from AP to HE and back to AP. Still zero. "Aw crap, I brought only HE rounds" was the though that went through my mind. Anyways, I got that vehicle back into my sights and gave it a quick burst with my MG. Most hit the vehicle which totally destroyed it, but I accidentally gave the bank to the left of it a few bullet holes in the brickwork as I had aimed too far to the left at first.

Still puttering along, I find a big target driving down the road. I see Minion (from twisted metal game series) and in front as guard was Vanscrew's Sherman that someone had stolen before I had the chance to. I call on squad vox that I found his Sherman and that should I take it out. He comes back and says for me to kill it and that he is OTW to my position. MY squaddie calls back that he is coming also. I know I can’t do much with HE rounds, so I give it a try anyway. When they are crossing a bridge in front of me (they are at a 1 o'clock position in front of me with me tailing them), I fire my first shot. It misses the Sherman about 4 feet to the right and hits a building, making a loud explosion and small fireball. DOH!  The Sherman isn’t phased, it keeps on moving. Minion being him turns his turrent around and catches a few trees on fire with his flamethrower in his turrent. My second shot hits him in the rear, appearing to do no damage.

I never got to see what happened next since I woke up. I know I didn’t die, I just happened to wake up early since I am always up at 6:15 in the morning. Now I am wide awake and can’t finish it.

The moral of the story? Don’t eat pizza and Mozzarella garlic cheese bread right before you go to sleep.

I know this was designed to be a humorous post... But!!!

I've called them Pizza dreams for many years, LOL!!!  I've had a few gnarly ones...
Strange how pizza does that, isn't it!!!  Brings back things from MANY yrs ago...
But mine have nothing to do with vid games or movies!!

My VA Doc, says he has heard the same thing from many different people...
Says it may have something to do with the complicated enzymes given off
by smoked meats, causing various endorphins to be released to the brain!!!
No BS!!!

PTSD, brought on by too much pepperoni, LOL!!  Sounds silly huh??
But its real, no doubt about it!!!

i've had quite alot of dreams that have reflected the future in some way. Sometimes I could just say the dream was a coincidence and the link not exact, but sometimes its vivid and shocking when the dream comes back in the real situation. Deja vu, i think, is from premonitions during sleep.

I wake up sometimes and feel emotionally drained.... not that the dreams are scary, or upsetting, just emotionally draining that I can't tell if I am really swimming in a clear water pond full of 2ft wide bull frogs, who are playing water soccer, with an official size football in their mouths, or am I sleeping through the alarm again with yet another completely weird Chantix dream!  Some are too weird to even describe, because they lack the feel of "normal" dreams, and yes, it feels like its real.

I can safely say I've had a dozen or more of these instances in my life.  I use to get it about every 6 months or so growing up from 12-18.  I haven't had anything really that I can recall in a few years.  When I first had these deja vu I had to stop and was kind of awe struck what I was witnessing.  Later on, it wasn't as big of a deal but I made special note of it.  Some times they were just random scenes from life.  Others were seemed to be larger parts in my life, either related to a new career or moving etc.

While sleeping, I have weird dreams that the local Camels and Bison are plotting my demise.  The Camel part freaks me out.  I know why the Bison don't like me.

Not sure why, but I only have dreams when I go to sleep during day time hours. If I go to sleep at, lets say, 9:00pm then I never ever have a dream, but if it's one of those nights where I stay up all night and finally get to sleep at 6 in the morning, then I have dreams.

Kinda weird...

Anyone ever have that dream where you know you're dreaming so you go about doing whatever you want since it's not going to hurt you or have any consequences?

Yes I agree!  Dreams can be a window to the future.. The hitch is, that you never know, what vision, in what dream, is the window... Until it presents itself in reality!
Then you have the OMG, deja vu effect... Strange how your mind reacts to that effect as well.. Hits you in an instant, BANG, there it is... Like your brain is hardwired
to recognize when it happens... Odd!!!   Some ppl have tried dream analysis, to ID the "windows", but I really don't think that is possible for normal ppl...
I also think, that the "1 in 10million person" CAN...  Nostrodamus, Edgar Casey, etc...  A few others in history as well... A gift, or curse, or freak, of nature I think!!!

I have a scrip for Chantix too, haven't used it yet..  Don't think I'm going to either...

Personally, I wish that I didn't dream at all.. When I do, its never good!

I've had that happen. Some dreams seem to be premonitions not totally accurate but like the movie version, true to the story line but not accurate in detail. It's happened so often now, it can hardly be a coincidence.

I have very interesting dreams, often I'm somebody else in a dream. Last night I had an interesting aviation related dream. I was back at my Mother's house. The Irish army were having an exercise nearby and some of us went upstairs to watch the action. A C47 appeared and looking to be about to drop paratroopers, which is odd as the Irish army has no paratroopers or C47s :D But it hit a flock of crows, one engine stopped and it turned towards us, as it approache the engine fell off and it crashed into the garden and started burning. I gathered everyone and ran out the front of the house. The crew jumped out and ran into the house trying to get my family to evacuate but most people took no notice. I had to drag my Mother out of the house. But others wouldn't leave. I woke up in a fright.

I know plane crashes in dreams mean something is out of control in your life. Which fits well as it happens.

Okay... my weirdest may not be like that....

But, I fell asleep watching animal planet on my back (which makes me snore, which is a recipe for weird dreams).

And I had a dream that some dude in a kangaroo suit was trying to choke me to death (sleeping on my back...etc.)

I woke up and I said out loud "WHAT THE !@#%?!"

I had a dream where a person i recognised, but didnt know from where, hit me really hard below the ear and knocked me on my back. I was lying on the floor and could see him standing there through tunnel vision but i was KO'ed and could not stand up to defend myself. It was really frustrating wanting to stand up and being completely immobile.
I also have had alot of war dreams in close firearms combat. Everytime i get shot and feel the bullets go in and the numb pain and everytime it is because my trigger is too stiff and i cannot fire. War dreams always make me wake up sweating. People tell me you cannot die in your dreams but i have been shot or crashed or fallen and killed many times. Eventualy i think it will give me a heart attack in my sleep.

i have had dreams like that too.

One was where meteors were making contact with earth. It was a clear blue sky and they were punching through the atmosphere. What makes no sense about it was that when they came through the atmosphere, they created a black hole in the sky that you could see into space. You could see the dust kicked up way in the sky on the horizon from strikes. One hit nearby and I remember seeing the cloud of debris come up and next thing I know I was on my back with several people around me looking. Then remember one saying that the local fire/police dispatcher left their post to be with their family because the big one with an iron core was about to hit the planet soon.

Then there were many dreams of nuclear attack and being caught in the blastwave. Remember one where I was looking up in the sky and seeing many contrails from the ICBM's and the missles themselves crossing the sky. it was towards the evening so the mushroom clouds in the distance has a dull orange glow to them. One hit the oil tank farm about 30 miles north of here and a massive wave of dust came right at me. Didnt think it was lethal but it did knock me out for a moment. Heard the ear deafening "BOOM" that was associated with the blast as it hit.

scary. Woke up many a night scared out of my wits over it.

Exactly. I wish I could remember the dreams I have but if im awake longer then 15 minutes its just a faint memory that I can recall bits and pieces. That long one I pasted back on the first page was one I just happen to have the PC on overnight and was able to type it out in detail before forgetting what I dreamt about. There are some I definately dont want to remember but also there is some that I just absolutely want to remember as hard as I can because it was so interesting. Those are the ones that even though it is a fantasy type wor;d/sequence, it would be great to actually realise im dreaming and then just explore and see what I find. perhaps even discover some ideas that do not exist in this day and age but would become a great invention. Have had several where I was the owner/pilot of a terresterial based flying craft that could do flight as what a UFO could do. Silent, fast, and move on all planes of direction without a hiccup. It wasnt a UFO either, believe it was an experimental craft I had developed and was flight testing it. Not 100% on the basics, but it did act on very localised gravitational and magnetic forces to put the aircraft into the motions stated above.

There are some that I had the exact dream down to the exact detail happen more then once. Actually there is one that I have had I would say a minimum of 10 times and it was the exact same from the first time to the last time. It isnt a bad one, just strange and doesnt make much sense (refer to my big post on page 1). I have had this one occur in the span of around 15 years and maybe once in the dream I made myself know that I have had this one before and try to change the outcome. Even if I know that happens and how this dream ends, I can just barely change one minor event but it still ends the same.

On the same page, there was some that were so bad I was scared toejamless and even tried anything I could in the dream to wake myself up (I was aware it was a dream) and I couldnt do it. The pinching, inflicting pain, and other "remedies" that you can use to wake up didnt do a single thing. I just had to suffer from immense and horrible fear before I am literary shocked awake because it was such a horrible dream. I cant remember a single thing right now what it was, but there is a deep down gut feeling of paranoia, nervousness, and fear just from trying to describe it. Must be locked away deep in the subconscious as to how it took place to still do that.

Is there an actual way to pull out dreams to have a certain dream at will when trying to go to sleep or not? I have had dreams that lasted about 10 seconds while I was physically asleep for 9 hours and then I have had some that lasted days upon days and I was just physically asleep for maybe 6 hours.

Sure is interesting to think about.

I have deja vu dreams. I also have dreams where I go through my entire school day before being woken up by a parent, cat, or alarm. Sometimes the dreams are accurate, and others are just fantasy. As in, school bus is a yellow B-25. Or maybe every third tile in the tile floor is playing hooky and I am called on to hunt them down.

The worst dreams last just five seconds in dream world, at maximum, and involve me falling down a black pit, though I can't see or feel any wind. It just has that falling feeling. Then I wake up, right before the alarm goes off, or I jerk up and hit my head on the lamp that hangs over my bed.

I don't have interesting dreams.
