Title: A/C modeling
Post by: FYB on August 10, 2009, 02:36:49 PM
When i am in the Hangar everything is perfect, it has me an inch close to re-subscribing to AH for a month. But when i start to take off the A/C i am flying becomes white. It is in the stages of when it was done modeling but the skin is gone and all my instruments are non-visible. I can't aim either, the sights are all completely white.

I'm not sure, but when i fire there is a long in length white/transparent plus sign where the muzzle flash should be.

Any suggestions would be nice!

A DXDIAG output would be helpful.  Sounds like the video card has the "Detailed Terrain" option set with large textures when the card/chip cannot actually handle it.  Just a guess.

I put it at 800 x 600 Res, and the texture down to 512. All the options for detailed terrain (advanced options & reg options for graphic detail) are off.

Still is happening.  :(

Then a DXDIAG output is really needed.

I'm unfortunately stupid at computers. So if it's a download of some sort that is needed please post a link. If it is some sort of device, I'm going to need a moment to cry little bit.  :cry

Info:

I'm running a NVIDIA GeFORCE FX 5200
On a HP Pavilion 7955

Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Look in this thread (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,71591.msg3215282.html#msg3215282) as it contains instructions on creating the text output from DXDIAG.  Just post the upper third of the text file DXDIAG creates.

Specifically, I need the system, video, and sound card parts.

The basic upshot of it is, the FX5200 cannot run with "Detailed Terriain" option enabled.  With the limited amount of system RAM, you need to set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 256, or less.

Then seeing it is an HP, I just have to figure there are around 57 to 62 processes running in the background, as there is also 460MB of page file usage.  That needs to be gotten under control.

Post by: FYB on August 11, 2009, 05:03:32 PM
Everything is fine expect for the throttle. For some reason it will only go to full. I can put my throttle up to 25% and it wouldn't go. I need to put it up to 95% and the engine will automatically change to full. I can't go slowly down the runway or save fuel on long flights...

By the way what is page file? And how do i reduce it?
Title: Re: A/C modeling
Post by: Skuzzy on August 11, 2009, 05:13:32 PM
Try using the "Calibrate Axis" button in Options->Controls->Map Controllers to calibrate the throttle axis.

The Windows page file is where Windows stores data which is not needed to be loaded into memory at that time.  Typically, in a farily clean Windows XP system it hangs around 100 to 120MB.  Yours is over 400MB.  That means there is a lot of things loaded into RAM which does not need to be loaded.

Check the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del), under the "Processes" tab.  Lower left corner is the total count.

28 processes (WOW )

Do i delete all of them?

nooooooooooooooo

Hmm 28 processes is low.

He's probably running a Symantec or McAfee product...either of those 2 hog programs could account for 28 processes and 460 meg paging file.

Last time I saw a Windows XP paging file under 200 was on a fresh of Windows XP SP2...that was in March when I built the system I'm using now...load up the SATA, chipset, audio and video drivers and it went over 300.

would backing off on his DirectX sound " HW Accel Level: Full"  to 3/4's or standard

release some of his processor to help run the game better?

Something huge is running if it takes that much page file space.  My computer is going on a year old and I just checked, it is still under 120MB.  Time has little to do with how much is being swapped to the page file.

I could see Norton or McAfree using up a lot of page file space though.  Horrible programs.

get a copy of FSAutostart or Alacrity to kill everything you dont need before firing up AH.

on my XP system Task Manager shows 20 processes (including itself) and ~140MB page file.

Good Luck trying to remove LimeWire from your HD......if you decide to do that......( my personal opinion you should get rid of it )....

3 previous times , my 2 daughters installed it on their own PC's...had to reformat to get it completely off on oldest daughter's PC once...then 2 more times reformated youngest Daughters pc.....they no longer have a desire to use Limewire  :D

Haven't you gotten the word yet?  :huh Limewire = 2nd largest source of virus infections (primarily trojans) and spyware on the net...right behind Bearshare. You should not be running any P2P programs especially on your gaming system if you expect to keep it as a gaming system...considering the fact that you're also running Norton, I'm willing to bet you a months subscription to AH that your system is infected.

I'm guessing you don't realize how the P2P's work otherwise you would be using encrypted torrent downloads...event then you should never do it on your gaming system.

You would be better off if Norton (as well as all the other garbage that might be on your drive) did go away...use Avast anti-virus instead...less overhead and better detection.
