Title: Unusual event for me last night
Post by: Getback on August 10, 2009, 03:15:13 PM
Rooks were trying to capture a base last night (Very poor attempt too). So I thought I would head that way with an egg to take down the radar. I drop my egg and scramble through about 7 or 8 cons and field ack. I stay low to maintain as much speed as I could. Once I pass over a fairly high hill I see a couple of cons working over 1 of our guys. So I think maybe I can help him out. I see one con to my left and one con to my right both heading towards my countryman. I think, I will beat the con to my left and cleanly pick (yes pick) the con on the right. He actually was closer to the friendly. As I pull up to shoot him I'm shocked to see the con on the right pulling up with his buddy. Both filled my screen. I let it rip and failed to save my countrymen and seemingly failed to kill either of the two cons. I had turned my tracers off previously because I don't use them in werbles or manned acks. So I had no idea where my bullets were hitting, although I did see some metal flying. Somewhat disgusted I start to return to base, and then I got kill one, a couple of minutes later, kill #2. Wow, it wasn't instant gratification but still rewarding.

That hasn't happened to me since AW. When two A's flat turned into a Cz buff right in front of my while I (bz) was shooting the buff. It's stunning stuff.

Hmm, I was under the impression that you can't turn tracers off in acks or GVs (other players still see it). Was this changed in the new version or some time before, or did you finally find the reason planes start avoiding your guns as soon as you start firing?

I don't know if they can't see them or not. I know I can't. You can turn tracers off in a manned ack, werble or your plane. Not sure who can see them and who can't.

I pretty sure Mar is right. When you're in a GV or manned ack the enemy CAN see your tracers.

I only know I can't. I think my countrymen can. Now for the enemy, I just don't know.

With tracers off, your rounds are not visible to anyone except if you are using the main gun on tanks.  Those are always visible.

enemy can NOT see traces from anything smaller than a 37mm I believe. The manned ack and wirbles will not show tracers. The heavier gv rounds will still show though. An osti will show its tracer round but anything smaller will not.

What size are the manned field guns? Aren't the osty's 37mm? I know you can't turn off the Osty tracers or at least you couldn't before the update.
