U have an X52. Not a pro just the first one that came out. I want to get a new one, but not sure what to get. I was wondering what some of the community uses and why they like it. :salute
-
On my second X52. Gonna switch to CH product when this one goes.

Same... both the X52's I've got developed the same problems... My CH rudder pedals have been going strong, I've had them a lot longer, too.
<- Future CH HOTAS customer...

Full CH setup here.

CH is the best and lasts forever. Some people complain about the odd lemon or two that CH "might" have put out, but I've had mine for years, and only bought new ones to upgrade to USB from the old gameport style.
You can buy the other sticks over and over again, but you only buy CH once.
-
I like my sturdy x-52 pro very much.
I dumped CH stuff many years ago...

I had an x-52, which is the only stick that adjusts short enough for my thumb to reach the hat switch. It's gone. And I'm on strike until the responsible party replaces it.
Yes, I'm pouting.

Ditto: Had an x45, x52, and x52 pro, all went bad fast. Now I have the CH stuff and liking it very much!

I like my X-52 w/ CH pedals. But for some reason I still get shot a whole bunch. :huh Maybe I shouldn't spent da money for flight school on those college girls :O
-
I had my logitech wingman for bout 12-14 years (bought it sometime during AW days), never a problem til I knocked it off the desk a few months back and stepped on it ...... using a saitek now that I bought for $1 at an auction and its fine I suppose
the thing to remember about sticks is despite what others may moan and groan about how its improved their game blah blah etc , the most important thing is youre comfortable with it and it actually works
a good pilot can run to their favorite discount store and buy a $10 stick and still be a good pilot...... however buying a $150 CH stick wont make a crappy pilot any better
and remember there are some pretty good pilots who dont even own a stick.....
so like I said, pick the one that feels comfortable to you and has the features you like, let your skill do the rest

Airflyer i have a x52 and a st290 with the x52 stick it seems i have to move it much farther then i would with the 290.Is there a adjustment for this on the x52?
-
Axis Scaleing should help if your saying what I think you are.
-
I had x52 throttle/joystick and saitek rudder pedals. frequently had to calibrate joystick.
the little pinky switch broke on the joystick, so I bought a ch fighterstick and use it with the x52 throttle and saitek pedals. Now I really like my setup.

Saitek Cyborg X stick...no pedals...Saitek Cyborg keyboard (the really nice programmable one)...

If your paying 150.00 for any CH gear you paying to much. There is always posts for new gear. A full CH setup, stick, throttle, pedals all new will be less then 300.00 and will last you most likely the rest of your gaming life.

I paid $97 w/ shipping for my Fighterstick and $99 w/shipping for my Pro Pedals, bith from ProVantage.

CH all the way!
Anyone that complains about CH is complaining about something other than the product.
-
Personally I have used them all. My backup set that I gave to my oldest son is an X-52...I just couldn't see him using my good gear at all.
I used TM way back in the beginning...btw still using the TM Cougar...well not atm since I am in the middle of the modding process after using it since the beginning in standard stock gear with no troubles other than the pot in the throttle getting hosed in a firmware upgrade.
I used CH...just didn't feel right for me...again FOR ME!!!
Would like to try the new logitech G940 when it comes out...but will wait for reviews and real world people experience before spending more cash after I finish my mod job on my Cougar.
Since I didn't say it....you have to try it to decide IF YOU LIKE IT!!! DON'T TAKE ANYONE'S WORD FOR IT.

CH all the way baby.
Built in the good ole US of A. :aok
I've had MS ffb2 good solid stick, several saiteks. Some squaddies have broken X52's for fun.

Ive had tons of problems with my 52's, but the last one I picked up, around the time as the Pro's release has been good. I have Saitek pedals also. I was looking very hard into thrustmaster, but i havent really been able to talk to anyone that uses one.
-
What are your questions about the TM gear Gary? Also you can go to the forums over at frugalsworld.com and check out the Cougar community there.
-
I will check that site out. I was just trying to figure out the better stick. Since CH and TM are abou the same price. Except the TM I was looking at had a throttle. It was all abot $250.
-
Well, I've broken 2 Saitek ST290 Pros and 2 Saitek AV8R's in 17 months. Newegg replaced one of the ST290's at no charge, Best Buy exchanged one of the AV8R's, and Mad Cats either repaired or replaced another under warranty. Now I'm going to see if they will fix the recently broken ST290 under warranty. When my final AV8R breaks I guess I'll go CH.
I like the sticks. It's just too bad they are built so poorly.
-
Using a Saitek Av8tr currently, not a bad stick, still prefer the Logitech 3D Pro for feel. I use a Logitech Steering Wheel w/ pedals for rudder, may not be the same tension, but these things have gone through 2 1/2 years of abuse and are working perfectly, I would never buy a dedicated Rudder set, these work too well.
Broke an older Saitek ST290, the calibration is mostly shot on the Logitech and the Av8T is getting there, just had the first break, the little Secondary fire flap came off. :(
Overall I prefer spending a little money now and then for something I know well instead of a lot for something I don't know at all. :)

Its up to you, but I'd wait before I jumped into that swamp. They do call them "logicrap" for nothing.

September 3rd is the scheduled release date in North America for the G940 and September 17th in Europe...if you are interested.

Been reading that forum since it first started, lots of good info... Looks like its going to be pretty good to me...
The features speak for themselves.. Longevity? It seems that Logitech is aware that the longevity of their
current models is a major point of criticism... Can't imagine that they didn't take this opportunity to remedy this...
Hope so... But if not, I'll find out!!! Interesting also, is that the logitech rep said, that it was going to be soft and
hardware upgradable too... Ooooh man, that opens gigantic potential for the future... Hmmmm, $300bucks, OK!!!
Already put my money down :x.... :D Mostly I like the fact that it has enough programmable functions onboard
the Hotas, that I can virtually eliminate the keyboard for flight functions and vox.. Thinking about a gamepad with
macros, for .commands...... Then all that the keyboard will do is Text........Ugh!!!!
How about that offswitch for the chat buffer Skuzzy?? ;)

Note. If you do a search in Hardware and software you will find numerous posts on problems with Logitech and Saitek.
I can't get my X52 to........calibrate, spikes,etc. you name it.
You will find very few relating to CH Products. Other then stating you should switch to them.
BTW, you don't need a fighterstick. Why pay more for just one hat switch?
I find the 568 Combatstick USB along with my Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals to be superior.
With all three components the extra Hat is not needed in any way. So why pay the extra money
for the Fighterstick when the Combatstick is just as good performance wise and cheaper?
-
U can program the extra hat for lots of things. Autopilot, clipboard, mass squelch, etc. I have 3 hats in my x52 and and they"re all mapped to different functions I only use keyboard. Chat on 200 or country.

Thrustmaster cougar and CH pedals, my only wish is that the pedals felt more sturdy.

I have had Logicraps and going to the full CH set-up was like going from night to day. CH will repair stick for the cost of shipping IF there is a problem....................an d thats a BIG IF. Purchased my CH pedals and stick four years ago and it is as functional and responsive as the day it came out of the box. Ultimately it is up to you but if your going for the long term........CH is the ONLY way to go! Good Luck!

I went through 2 X52's. love them. for versatility and functionality you cant beat them. i had all my views on 1 thumb. it was great. switched over to CH. super smooth, much better feel but not the versatility of the X52. if you could put the 2 together it would be a great setup.
i use saitek rudders and havent had any problems with them or the CH's or the Saitek sticks.
-
The only real problem are the design flaws in the CH Pro Pedals that have been inherent since the first Pro Pedals came out in the '90s and never fixed.

When I saw a post by Shortbus (Gary) called "Let's talk about our sticks" I cringed and wondered if it was safe for work. After developing the courage to open the thread I realized you are all talking about your crazy plastic contraptions that give you these crazy concepts like "immersion" and "realism."
Mouse and keyboard for 4 years + proud. :aok I do have an old logitec laying around somewhere but I just don't enjoy it as much.
-
LOL!!! Yes, the logitec failures are familiar to me.. Been playin 3yrs+, worn out 5 3Dpro's.... It doesn't bother me too much, at about 25bucks each, I just keep a spare, LOL..... I've tried several others at game stores, but their added features, and advantages, just didn't justify the cost, IMO... Also, none of them had a smooth easy to use, (stand alone) dual throttle.... A feature that I've been wanting for a long time...Then again, I've gotten used to the feel of the 3Dpro as well.... Why go thru the relearning process on a new stick, that I will prob replace soon anyway, ala X52pro...
Last June, I was going to buy a set of pedals, (Saitek pros).. But was also considering a total switch to CH.. Then, when searching out CH products, I saw the G940... It has all the features that I've wanted, +MORE..
After my experience with the 3Dpro breakage, I guess it is a bit of a leap of faith, to expect Logitec to address the breakage issue... Been reading every bit of info available, watching the vids.. Looks like they spent some money to swipe some "flight sim guys" away from the competition... And they spent the time in development as well..... Hmmmm, yeah, its a leap, but it's only a $300 leap, LOL!!!
LOL, I've risked my life, on faith in a parachute packer, (who I didn't even know).. So this is a small thing!!!
Live a little man!!!
