I've seen photographs of a P47 from the front looking towards it's 6 with the pilot in the cockpit and it seems that the backplating is not nearly as large as it is in AH. Also, I looked at it in AH and it appears that a pilot would at least be able to see a part of his elevator when looking at the 7 and 5 o'clock view. However AH does not allow you to see much of anything when checking 5 to 7 views.
Was the view really that limited in teh P47?

fscott:
Have you adjusted your views? If not do the following:
Get into a 47, depress the hat button to look straight back. While keeping the hat-button depressed, use the arrow keys and pgup/pgdn keys (NOT the ones on the numeric keypad) to move your viewpoint around. When the view is at a place you like, press f10 and it saves that viewpoint.
When I do this in the 47 I can move the viewpoint so that I get a good view of the vertical stabilizer.

LOL I always love seeing people's reaction's when they find out they can slide around in the cockpit (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Also Fscott, if you find a view you really like while sliding around, hold it and hit F10. Your head position will be saved for that keystroke.
