Title: My father passed away
Post by: cowboy73 on August 21, 2009, 07:49:59 PM: My father passed away 2 nights ago after a long battle with cancer. Looking for prayers from the aces high community so his soul might go to a better place.

His life and the way he lived it WILL as well as his faith good sir :salute All the living can do is comfort the loved ones left behind bro and for that we are here :pray Only you know your dad and what kind of man he was so rest assured and be at peace that he is ok bro !! My grandfather also passed from cancer . My grandmother lost both breast to breast cancer bro. My father is fighting LUNG , PROSTATE and COLON cancer right now bro so feel assured that someone TRULY knows your pain. My father was one of the meanest , cruel , heartless people I had ever seen. Although he never treated me that way I saw how he treated others !! He now is as humble as a mouse. Who has now seen the error of his ways BUT is it ever to late? I think not as long as the person is alive and able to make some sort of a mends. I now happily embrace and talk with him extensively about the LORD and his levity. A topic he back in the day would have backhanded me for trying to lecture him on. I tell you this bro so that your joyous memories of your pop are jogged. You know in your heart he is and always will be well and in the bossom of the merciful Lord. He is looking PROUDLY down on you with joyous smiles of a loving father. Anytime you need, I as well as many others are here for you COMRAD !!

I lost mine on Mother's day this year. It was sudden. He played tennis the day he died. Later that night, he had a massive pulmonary embolism.

Getting over it takes time, like everything else. I still catch myself thinking, frequently, oh, this or that is really cool. I'd like to tell my Dad about it...

And, of course, that's no longer possible, as far as I know.

At the same time, there are other things afoot that seem to partially compensate - you just have to live those because it's hard to explain.

Anyway, good luck. I've been there and done it and it's hard but survivable.

For my own part, I try to keep the old man close and I choose not to judge his life by how it ended. By such a standard, no one's life would look good. Death is always ugly.

Instead, I look back on his lifeand can generally feel pretty good about the time we spent together. He and I both understood it was finite anyway.

Funny how that is. My dad died the day before last Father's day. The oddest Father's day I have ever experienced.

He went to the Hospital on his B-day and was dead a month later, and he found out about the cancer 2 weeks after his B-Day!!! Point is, I know how ya feel and I offer my sincerest condolences to you and your family. May he Rest In Peace. :salute
