Title: Video Card AGP - Low Power
Post by: OddCAF on August 22, 2009, 06:04:24 PM
Hi folks,
Got a problem that's drivin' me nuts here. I had an old GeForce 6600 GT which
ran AH fine up until this latest graphic upgrade. So..I bought myself a HD4650 card
which apparently is a serious power hog. Once I installed the new card, the PC
wouldn't boot up right.
So...I then bought a 700 watt OCZ Stealth Stream power supply. Once
I got that hooked up, the PC wouldn't boot up at all; nothing on the
monitor showing, not even the standard boot-text.
Now...I sold my 6600 for twenty bucks. If I had it still, I could
troubleshoot this box further.
So here's the deal. Oddball needs an old AGP type video card; one
which doesn't suck as much juice as this 4650.  Mine was
128MB. Ideally, somebody's got one hangin' around collecting dust.
I just need it temporarily...honest. :)
I will of course, pay all postage. However, if there's none to be had
on loan and you've got one to sell, I'll go that route.
I just need it to install and see if the problem I've got now is
due to the new power supply and/or the new vid card.
  Did I mention I've got a headache now? <ggg>
My thanks in advance for any assistance. :)

PS: If you don't hear from me again, it's onacuz I can't get this
dang box fired up again! Arrrggghhh.

Regards,

Try the HD3850, though it doesn't run very well with a PSU less than 500w.

Didn't know the 4650 came out in AGP flavors, might get one to replace the 3850 on my AH gaming machine.
