Title: resubmited 10/JG2
Post by: Krusty on August 22, 2009, 07:48:22 PM
While looking for something else, came across a webpage that had some photos of JG2 on it. The "new" photos definitely showed the rudder was not white, thus making it yellow. They also showed the codes much darker than the rudder, meaning they must be blue (the only two options were white rudder, yellow codes, or yellow rudder, blue codes).

Also found one that very strongly suggested a yellow cowling (camo stopped abruptly).

So I updated it and resubmitted it so it can be correct.

I know we still don't have the bomb rack on the Fs, but JG2 and JG26 ran these raids across the channel and stuck around to pick fights afterwards. JG2 around this time was stacking up spitfire kills like nobody's business, and the pilot of this particular plane was killed while intercepting blenheims with a large RAF escort (a "Circus" designed to draw the LW into combat).

Edit: sorry, can't edit (been too long) this plane wasn't lost as described, sorry, but it was another JG2 ride. Got them mixed up. The jabo staffeln did mix it up, as mentioned, though.

HUH, never notice the tail with the ships on it.

Against a white rudder they were fine to stand out as they did on the previous skin. On the yellow rudder it's overall darker, so I made them stand out a little bit.

They were pure black on the real thing. I've only retraced some of the lines that "faded" with the anti-aliasing from the previous version, so that may make them look better-defined.
