Why oh why would they treat this woman that way . I understand religious fervor but that's ridiculous and I'd hit it too .

More of that Muslim morality at work.

Wouldn't hit it myself...looks too much like a family member.

Hey its their country and if you break a law there you aren't getting off unless they carry out the sentence for breaking the law. No other place than the US or Britain can you kill one or many and get off easily by sitting in jail for either A) the rest of your natural life or B) get sent home to die...yeah right!

The best thing we as citizens of the United States of America can do is sit down and shut up. It ain't our business how they treat their law breakers. No matter if they are on our side or not.

Reschke,

There's a couple parts to this issue. One is that sort of physical punishment by most modern definitions is considered cruel and unusual. Additionally, it's an indication of there being no equality under the law. One group is being held to different standards than another, which is something that doesn't (or at least, by the letter of the law isn't SUPPOSED to) happen here. People of other faiths are free to have a drink in public, but because she's Muslim, well, sorry. Drop your drawers and bend over.

That's where the chief injustice in the matter lies.

Reschke,
...One is that sort of physical punishment by most modern definitions is considered cruel and unusual...

By many modern standards, the electric chair and lethal injection would be considered cruel and usual so you have to be careful where you decide the moral line is.

However I'm Scottish so I'm currently hiding under a rock on all matters of morality, particularly as it pertains to crime and punishment.

I had a old uncle who used to pay a women £40 to beat him with a cane while he was tied up!
He went to private school and reminded him of his youth. :x

There is no way for this to be discussed without talking about politics or religion.
