Title: P-47 at Flying Heritage Collection
Post by: Wedge1126 on August 24, 2009, 11:25:31 PM
Over the weekend I visited the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field to see them fly their P-51 and P-47. Unfortunately, the P-51 had engine trouble and didn't fly. I think the P-47 just wanted more room on stage.  :)
I uploaded a gallery of about 90 pics that I think you guys will like. Oh, and forgive the dust on my lens.  :frown:

Click Here (http://www.wedge1126photos.dreamhosters.com/fhc22aug2009/) for the gallery.

Here's the best shot of the day:

That aircraft (don't know about livery) is the most accurately restored P-47 in the world, bar none.  It was done by Westpac Restorations, formerly of Rialto, CA and now Colorado.  In my opinion, they are the best restoration shop in the world.

Are they going to do the gun bays and guns at some point?  Just doesn't look right with out those 8 50s pointed out the wings.  Considering the detail of the restorations for Allen, I'd have thought they'd be there.

Can't wait to see his B17E fly.

When I saw it, the bays were complete, minus the guns.  Who knows what they will do there.

Can someone tell me what the 3 nazi flags represent? I'm assuming the 9 plain swastikas represent 9 kills.
