Title: Next GV for the Axis.
Post by: Squire on August 25, 2009, 01:08:15 PM
SDKFZ 232

http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/3620/sdkfz232_9.jpg

We need an armored car for them, and this one does nicely.

53 mph road speed and a nice long barrelled 20mm. Decent armor for an AC.

Used widely in WW2.

Its probably been asked for before, just dont recall.

Would it compete with the M8? That would be nice.

Honestly, what use does it have in AH? It has a 20mm main gun wich would only be good for vulching planes.

just my 2 cents.

I prefer this one!!! It would spice things up a bit!!!
Wouldn't work for the EW tho... But the 20mm version would!!!
Another interesting feature is, they go as fast in reverse, (with a rearward driver) as going forward!!!

we need something new in early war, something German along the m16 line. m16 too easy to kill.

Well opposum, what are any of them good for? its a GV. So I guess it would do "GV stuff".

Yes, I think it would compete with the M8, and its a good scout/recon/Halftrack killer vehicle.

Its an interesting AFV, the Axis need an armored car, and it fits the bill.

Plus it has 8 wheels, and thats just plain cool.  ;)

If adding GVs is the key, then it's very simple as to what the next two should be.

The Panther and the M4 Sherman with the 75mm gun.

Definately would help any scenario efforts.  If you really want to do it right, you'd add the Panzer III with short barrel 50 as it would cover the Russian Front stuff and was the main ride of the Afrika Korps.  Make it even better then to add a British Matilda or Crusader to match up with it.

We dont really need a Panther to do SEA setups, but right now the Germans have no Armored Car. I would like to see Tanks, HTs, AAA AFVs, and ACs for both sides. After that, add some more tanks, sure, top of my list for the next tank would be the M4A3 Sherman with the 75mm gun, to give the USA a tank (Firefly imho does not count), but the title of my post was "Next GV for the Axis".

+100     What the hell is that thing called anyway?

As for the 20mm version: it could be used as a scout car like it was intended for. You could drive one out to base on or near the coast (in range of the 8" guns anyway) and have it report where shells are landing if it is one gunner with the rest flying AC or it could report (maybe or probably better than the AC busy bombing and fighting) what targets are still up. This thing is not a tank or made to fill a tanks role.

2 X the coolness of four-wheel drive = 8 wheel drive.
