Title: Failed to create shadow with -x (usually 3)

I get this error message when setting shadow texture size to its highest setting (8192 IIRC?). I get great framerates with the option below that (I only get a drop until I turn on smooth self shadow in any mode, including 512).
I really wanted to see what it would look like on the highest setting, I'll probably be using 4092 or whatever if the error code is just telling me I don't have enough memory.

The Ctrl-I thing tells me I'm using just 1.5m out of 512m but I don't think this is right.
My card is an NVIDIA 8600GTS.
