HT well done! Crossfire now enabled and working great with CCC in the taskbar and Crossfire enabled.
Frame rate is holding at a steady 59 to 60.
For those who might wish to see the setting in CCC I am using I'll post them below.
First in game reading: Vid Mem 512M used 1.5M Cnt-0
My settings with CCC in the taskbar and up and running
Smootvision set to application settings
Anisotropic Filtering to application settings
Catalyst A.I. slider set far left - Standard
Mipmap detail level - Maxed all the way to the right for quality
Wait for Vertical Refresh - Always on slider full right set to quality
Adaptive antialiasing - not enabled
CrossFire - Enabled
Previously when enabling Crossfire and using CCC FR was ~ 16 to 18. Now always 59 to 60
HT out of curiosity....what did you find that would enable us to run crossfire?
I am very curious as to what prohibited us from running Crossfire!
(inquiring minds wish to know) ;)
Well done! And thanks again for the effort involved. (as always)

You'd need a 2nd HD3870 to activate crossfire and a motherboard that supports it. Once enabled it gives improved graphic performance.

Just tested it and it works great. I didn't expect the fix for something so few of us use to happen this fast. Thanks HTC!!

Well considering the new version increases the work load of the video card but not much the work load of the cpu, crossfire is a valid and cheap upgrade for a lot of us. Cutting crossfire support wouldn't be a smart move IMO (of course I own one :) )
