This is a really neat site I've been reading through. A lot of these missiles in the US actually carried nukes. There was a base in Denton and some of it is still standing. There were other bases around the area as well. Pretty serious job and having nukes on site made it even more.

Uhhh...you really didn't know that?
Put it this way...there are still silos in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska (and many other states as well as Alaska) that have what looks like a small utility building with a fence around them...you never see any activity...just don't get too close.

I leanred about Nike and nukes a number of years ago. Just putting some info in the thread as a teaser.

Put it this way, I don't think he realized they put nuclear warheads in SAMs. Nike was an anti-air system, developed to kill inbound russian bombers.
I'm pretty sure everyone knows the midwest has the biggies underground.
