Ok Lazerr...so what have you tried to adjust? Notice the new self shadow options?
I'm still getting the stutter effect but it's not as bad as last night...and I've tried everything possible. For me it's redraw process issue...and I'm hoping one of the HTC guys can help me get rid of it.
-
I have everything off.... Bumpmap is the only thing enabled. :aok
-
Will your video card run Nvidia drivers any newer than this?
Driver Date/Size: 10/29/2004
Try cranking your video card refresh rate to 72hz.
What happens with 512 or even 256 textures?
Probably not going to make a difference but had to ask.
-
Still stutters at 512.. I flat wont fly at 256 textures. The newest drivers that work for me are the 66.93. Are you getting the stutters too?
-
Yeah but the stuttering is slower than it was with patch 7 and not quite noticeable...tried upgrading my drivers to see if that would help but it didn't. Even upgraded my sound drivers.
I've been through every setting I can think of short of overclocking my video card but nothing works...the stuttering occurs regardless of plane type or view, even external on a bomber...patch 6 worked very well for my system using 1024 textures and the hi res pack...gotta be something in the rendering system.
I have some questions but I doubt they will get answered so I'll just wait and do the best I can with what's available.
-
Personally I think it the maps. Some maps I get great FPS. Others I get 1/2 the fps. Take KOTH08 map for instance. I get only 40-50 fps on that map and I think it because it all the trees and shrubs on it. I go to some of the MA maps, for get which ones but I can get 60fps all day long maxed out on everything. It hard to see if it the patch or if it the map because the maps have changed around the same time as a patch update. Need to have the same map to verify what it is, wherter it be the terrian or the patch.
-
I get small random pauses that are very annoying but different from the stuttering I had in the initial release of 2.14 for example. It is very hard to describe an event that last maybe 0.2 secs but these pauses some how seem slight longer that the stutters and different in nature in a way that is indeed hard to describe. They came with the Patch 7 and didn't go a away with the Patch 8. :( I did suspect that it could be my system as I didn't notice them right after the Patch 7 and checked my system for viruses/spyware with AVG/AdAware but didn't find anything. I did some testing with Condor soaringsimulator and I didn't see any pauses or stutters with it.

I just noticed for the first time that I am getting minor stuttering. A little annoying. Didn't have the problems in patch 6 or 7, but 8 has my game "off" a little. :cry Will be messing with settings later and see what happens.
-
Is there any more patches to be expected for the latest release which might address this issue?
I still sometimes see small terrain objects which have unloaded textures. I don't know if it's related to this problem or not.
The only andvanced graphics option that I have on is the detailed terrain.
The patch 6 worked great on my end but now the game is at times almost unplayable for me. :(
-
Doh!
Sorry Pyro and the gang that I punted this thread up. I totally missed the "Patch 8 stutter questionnaire" -sticky you had posted on the 3rd. :o
