Hiyas forHIM!

Still doing FSX on a fairly regular basis. A couple of squaddies and I are doing the "Around the World" trip again flying the Grumman Goose. Actually following the flightplan flown by the 1924 USAAC World Cruiser Flight.

You ought to get in with us some time. We have a good time during the flights.

Wolfie, you up near ashville or hendersonville?

I plan on making a camera run up that way once the leaves start changing.  if they dont just turn brown and fall off again.

Well I was through there on Monday night and out of there on Tuesday morning headed to Asheville and Charlotte before finally stopping in Myrtle Beach...long driving times that day. I usually am up there 2-3 times a year for at least a day. I also used to work for Computer Direct Outlet (store off Laurens Road...I think thats right) when they had a shop down here in my town so I was up there for about 5 weeks total during that time (1998-1999) but that was about 10 years ago.

<S> Gentlemen,

I live right down the road in the Abbeville/Greenwood Area.  Used to live in Greenville.  Used to go to the Silver Fox back in the day.

I remember the SilverFox, dont think I ever went there though.

there has been so much change in the 15 yrs I was in atlanta that I still havent caught up with them.

even simpleville has major changes.

I dont even think there are any airshow events at donaldson anymmore.  was a good event, if you didnt get heat stroke in the mean time ;)

Gawd!!!!!!!! The Silver Fox...........Now I feel OLD! I spent WAY too much time in that place and far too much on cold beer.

CDO is still on Laurens Rd Reschke......its probably the best hardware shop in Greenville. There are a couple of other places, but CDO normally has the best prices.....

Simpsonville is almost unrecognizable. Ive been here all my life and the changes on this area are profound.

They've recently changed the name of Donaldson Center. Its now the South Carolina Transportation and Aviation Center......SCTAC. Its a shame that the ploiticians and such don't see a need to memorialize the name, Donaldson Air Force Base.......Its the same place, just a different name. Some of the old bunkers are still accessible, if you know where to look for the entrances.

Allen Arms in Greenville is the main attraction there for me. What's not to love about renting a fully automatic Thompson and MP5 and letting rip. First time I ever heard automatic fire was there...it's a different beast. Plus the only caliber that they don't allow is .50BMG. Helloooo .338 Lapula! Now if I can scrounge up the funds to buy one of my own, I'd be in business. The bowling pin matches there are a hoot too.

got a review of Aces Wild pizza for yas

went there last weekend.

nice place, large, real, bar.  about 10 tables on the main floor and about the same for the outside dinning area.

they also have a private room seating about 12-14 or so.

they have a couple of big screen TVs and many aviation prints on the walls.  they have 4' plus wingspan models of p51, spit, f4u and a triplane.

service was good with attractive, female, waitstaff ;)

pizza was good, but it is very thin crust -more NY style than anything else.  after talking with the owner, he says you can request the cook to roll the dough thick, if thats your style.

all in all a nice place for wanna-be pilots to meet and tell tall tales ;)

Born in Greenville, but been down here in Conway, SC ever since I was crapping myself.  :lol Well, not all that time, was in Clemson (best 5.5 years of my life!) for a while, til '95, and in W Columbia til '02, when I moved back home and started my business.

If y'all are ever headed to the Redneck Riviera (Myrtle Beach) drop me a line!

I'll probably be down there next summer Reaper.  I haven't made my pilgrimage to the "Riviera" in a couple of years and I'm starting to go through withdrawals.  I've already started on the "Must Do List" as per the usual trip.

1.  Stay at one of the top 5 hotels there (poolside bar a must)
2.  Walk on the beach at night (We've done that since we were dating)
3.  Have a Bud at The Bowery
4.  Hit up Broadway at the Beach a couple of nights for some clubbin
5.  Eat at Margaritaville and Senor Frogs....again
6.  Smoke everybody at Nascar Speed Park
7.  Get some new clothes at the outlets
8.  Eat at Dick's Last Resort for the upteenth time
9.  Play a little putt putt
10.  Cruise the Blvd. on the motorcycle (hopefully will be fixed and put back together by then)
11.  Play a round of golf or two
12.  Disturb the neighbors in the adjoining rooms
13.  Relax

I am so sad that my list can no longer include visiting one of my favorite places to go ever since Senior Week way back when....The Freaky Tiki.  I was very upset to see that and the Pavilion go but I heard that FT is now open where The Afterdeck was and is just called The Tiki, might have to check that out.

The Afterdeck still had their sign up a couple months ago so I assumed it was still open. There was some construction going on there so maybe they were making the conversion.
Ya Dicks is a hoot. :aok

Ahhhh my sources have failed me, I just checked, and The Freaky Tiki has a myspace page and it says "Taking a summer off...new location in 2010" so we'll see.  Dick's is a blast and they have some pretty decent food too.  I wish I could find one of the pics from Senior Week 10 years ago.  It was when good 'ole Slick Willy Clinton was in office.  One of my friends who is a girl and happens to be pretty smokin that dated a good friend of mine was sitting beside me.  The waiter made her one of their famous hats that said "Future White House Intern" and then made me one that said, "Future President."  Oh, it was priceless, then of course she had to take a picture halfway bent down into my lap with a little ranch dressing on the side of her mouth.  Come to think of it, I had those pics when I got married, maybe the old lady burned or shredded 'em.   :uhoh
