Title: FR issues with patch 8.
Post by: NOT on August 27, 2009, 07:23:26 PM
patch 7 was fine, now having FR issues. it seems that the more land in the picture, the worse my FR is. if over water, FR is maxed.
example SS....
over land..

its definitely something with the land textures, FR in mid to low 30's over land, and maxed over H2O. Makes game unplayable.

I've found that my frame rate over land increases enormously (more than doubles) when I shut off Detailed Water, even when no water is visible.  I then turn Detailed Water and Reflections back on when I'm going to be flying over water.  Not ideal, but it gets my fps pegged at 85 over land.  (It also often pegs at 85 over water with Detailed Water/Reflections on, if not much land is visible).

i can turn all the detail off and get maxed FRs, but with my system, why would i want to??

Well... I was trying to point out that if you are over land, having Detailed Water on does not affect the image quality at all, but does drop the frame rate.  So if you are mostly over land you can have your high eye candy and high frame rate together if you turn off Detailed Water.  (Or at least that's the way it works on my computer.)

i understand that, my point is why should i have too? my system is more than capable of running the game maxed out, the problem is with the new patch.

Not, its the terrian on some of these maps.  Terrians with alot of trees is killing the FPS.  Those seem to be the converted maps which kept all of the enourmous amount of trees and shrubs.  The other maps that have been redone with less trees and shrubs are not a issue with FPS.  At least what I have found.

If the problem is constant on this good of a computer then maybe a program or virus is slowing things down. May be internet connection but wouldn't count on it. Also if there are many planes around you this may reduce frames as well, although i don't see any in either screen shot.

problem started immediately with patch 8, i have checked and Dogg may be on to something. seems not as bad on some maps, but still an issue. hope patch 9 is in the near future.
