Title: Which Japanese aircraft do you most want?
Post by: Karnak on May 08, 2001, 09:45:00 PM: ONLY pick 1 off of my suggested list or name one that you would rather have.
My list will be of aircraft that are as competitive as possible with the current plane set.

The list is in alphabetic order:

A7M2 Reppu "Sam"

B6N2 Tenzan "Jill"

A6M2 is the Zero.

You're thinking of the B5N2 "Kate" and the B6N2 Tenzan "Jill" which was on my list.

The B5N2 would be useless in the current plane set. Once the mid-late war set is finished, things like the B5N should be added.

My choice would be the H8K2 "Emily".

The A6M2 is different than the A6M5 in the exact same way that a Spitfire MkI is different than a Spitfire MkIX, they're just different versions of the Zero.

A = Carrier based fighter.
6 = Sixth carrier based fighter.
M = Mitsubishi was the designer.
2 = Second major version of the fighter.

A = Carrier based fighter.
6 = Sixth carrier based fighter.
M = Mitsubishi was the designer.
5 = Fifth major version of the fighter.
b = Third minor version of the fifth major version of the fighter.

Type 2 Ki-44 Shoki
Type 3 Ki-61 Hien
Type 4 Ki-84 Hayate

Ki-45 Toryu

for the Navy fighter, maybe the
J2M2 Raiden

and of course we need bombers...

In fact three Emilys were to hit Pearl Harbor in a follow up attack, however the mission was scrubbed due to poor target visibility by clouds.

2 H8K3 prototypes (1944)
(2) H8K4 prototypes modified from H8K3 frames (1945)
36 H8K2-L production aircraft (1943-45)

In contrast there were 698 Ki-67 or 996 P1Y1 made...
