Title: Squad Dueling League
Post by: Bruv119 on September 02, 2009, 02:55:40 AM
Can I just remind everyone about the SDL.  It has been running for 9 months now and we have had a total of 19 matchups.

Bored of the tedious MA gameplay?  ganging and HO ing twits everywhere?.  Your squad is so proficient at killing people that the targets run dry and no longer up?

Well we have just the setup for you.  The Squad Dueling League is designed to be a fair, even contest for squads to go at it in a controlled environment;

All squads need at least 6 pilots for a duel
Planes get picked before hand by the respective CO's.
5x 1 life rounds with pre-determined altitude caps.
The duel can be arranged for a convenient date and time that both parties agree on.
Best of 5 wins.

These fights are a whole lot of fun and are guaranteed to get the adrenaline pumping.  For the full list of Rules go here;

If your interested or have any questions please post them in the forum.  If you think you can get organised please PM myself, trotter or hammer with 3 named contacts from your squad, for access to the SDL private forum, where you can issue/ receive challenges.

There are plenty of squadrons in AH and we only have 10 squads as members so far.

POTW? Wings of Terror? AK's?  The Blind Bats, 367th? swampdragons? rolling thunder?

Good, fun, fair fights to be had here.  You get to meet new people, discover a few things about your own, and have a blast for an hour or so from time to time.  It's pretty easy to organize, and very laid back.

It's a good opportunity to express or work on your squad's teamwork, and the matches can translate to better results in the MA.

The 479th needs to do some recruiting so we can take part as this sounds really fun.  We used to do this a lot with other squadrons in AW and always had a blast doing it.

Along with this being an advertising thread for the league, I'd also like to hear some feedback as to why specifically some may have considered joining but decided against it.

Feel that your squad is too disorganized?
We have a laid back structure that allows you to schedule your bouts on your own time, up to months in advance if necessary.

Feel that your squad can't compete talent-wise?
Come on, you know better...it's not about winning or losing (although we have one squad that is racking up an impressive string of victories). We try above all to make the duels fun, and as it turns out we have had very very few problems with tempers rising or anything like that. Most people, the great majority involved, come out of each match saying it was one of the, if not the, most fun times they have had in AH. If you really are concerned about not being able to compete, the way our challenge structured is formatted allows you to challenge whichever squad you please; you are not going to be required to go against a squad that you feel that you cannot beat.

Other than those two concerns, I'd like to hear what may be keeping people from getting involved to at least try us out. As Bruv said, 19 total matches in the time we've been in existence is a decent number, but we would like to be having far more. We try to be flexible and accomodating, and if there is one major concern or suggestion we hear over and over again we discuss ways to make things better.
