Title: Silent Death
Post by: FiLtH on September 09, 2009, 08:22:53 AM

Since 90% of the same ol' babble on 200 comes after a death, why dont we simulate death by voice/text muting the recently deceased for 1 minute after he passes. This may be just enough cool off time to ease some of the stuff we see, everyday. Day after day...over and over.

Or not go on 200 at all.  neither way, you will have them drama queens that will wait for a min and still whine.

There is a game-play element here, too. For example, if you run into a flak-trap and die, you can currently provide a warning to your buddies despite the fact that you died. I imagine this is even more pronounced in a GV battle where a good ambush position can be given away by someone who is "dead".

+1

wont ever happen. What if a new player wants to ask what he did wrong? are you gonna make him wait to ask the question? or if the reason you died was because typing on 200 and not paying attention. you get killed because of typing, then you cant even type. double whammy.

Its not only for 200, its for pms too. Nothing like killing someone and a few seconds later as you start another fight someone tunes your name in vox and starts raggin on ya.

Suns, for all the years Ive played, few have asked politely what they did wrong. It leans more to what you must have done that was an unfair advantage that caused them to lose. Comms in this game between sides in 90% garbage. The 10% is why I keep it tuned for friendly banter between fights with decent people. I just think a cool down period would help. 1 minute isnt too long to remember the fight, but just maybe long enough for someones temper to settle down before they say something stupid. Plus like was said above, dead men tell no tales.

I have been PM a few time by high rank players fly there high performance/perk  AC and getting shot down by me while in a low preformace/non-perk AC.  i get a laugh out of it.

+1 filth   :aok

I've had  3 PM vox rants this week from the recently departed.   a 1 minute cooling off period will help reduce them IMHO.  Let them re-up straight away just don't let em blabber.

I would say it is a bit of fun but these people DO actually believe that I'm cheating my bellybutton off with some sort of malicious code written to outsmart them  :noid

I really thought that we may have been talking about passing gas when I read the title!  I do not like the idea of a forced mute for any period of time.  To be excluded from the friendly banter on my squad channel for any period of time can make me miss out on some fun conversation!  The conversations with my friends online is the second biggest reason that I keep logging back into this game that we all love to some degree or another...

Also valid points.......  Perhaps if it was just COUNTRY & 200 channels....  And VOX always works.

Its only 1 minute :)   There is nobody in my squad that could say anything clever enough in 1 minute's time to make me miss out :P

Another interesting thing about silent deaths could be the implementation of (like the AI) a plane that simply falls out of the sky when the pilot's dead rather than having the plane explode.

If there would be too much complaining in terms of people not wanting this implemented in order to save time and ammo, perhaps the icon of the e/a could disappear once the pilot is dead.

Private vox only so you cant vox pm someone. I have to admit i would have kept me from being impetuous a few times.

On the other hand I have had quite a few good chats with better pilots who have shot me down. I will tune and private chat with them for a few, and give a salute. So i would vote for keeping 200 open and text pm open.

I think it is a compliment when I get a PM or anykind after shooting someone down. Just a reframe, makes me get all :x
