Okay, so, um, I have a weird question. I just recently bought an HP Pavillion DV6 Artist Edition which came with the expanded (12 cell?) battery, and tonight, I discovered a button. On the battery itself, on the right side, is a button, that when you press it, causes a 4 lights to light up around it, that look exactly like the XBoX 360 rings, only white instead of green. And then in a second, the lights go away. I have gone through all of my manuals but none mention this button. Any idea what this thing is or what it does? I have tried pressing it a bunch of times, but it doesn't seem to have any other effect...

Most likely it's a battery charge indicator like in macbooks. Support can do first level check by reversing the laptop and pressing the button to see if the battery has charge or not.

Huh... good idea! I'll let it die a bit and try that.

That's exactly what it is! As power drains, the lights don't light up, each of the four rings corresponding to 25% battery life. The upper left is first to go, with the lights progressing counter-clockwise.

It's a countdown!!!

Yeah it's just the standalone battery meter. Used to have one on my Dell Inspiron 6000, my new Studio15 doesn't have one.

If you hold the button down, the lights will turn off. That's the life indicator. When you hold it down and all four light up, you need to buy a new battery.
