Title: Fw190A-4 flight manual?
Post by: gatt on March 23, 2000, 01:20:00 AM
Does anyone know where to buy or download the A-4 flight manual (english text)?

I've got the A-8 (and variants) manual. It is beautiful indeed, with all the horizontal speed and climb charts at normal, climb-combat and WEP settings [*very* close to what PYRO put on a/c performance charts]. There are even drawing and instructions about gun convergence.

Thx for any help.

Here's some stuff I dug up on the G-3 which was restored to A-5 configuration: http://members.xoom.com/mikewaltz/F-TR-1102-ND.htm (http://members.xoom.com/mikewaltz/F-TR-1102-ND.htm)

Funked, big thx for the link.

If I read well, she climbed to 20,000ft in something more than 6 minutes (I presume at climb/combat rpm = our WEP). It means about 3,300ft/min average ....      (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Take a look at the climb rate: 3,800-4,000ft/min up to 4,000ft, then down to 2,800ft/min up to 11,000ft, then again 3,000ft/min at 19,000ft.

What does it mean to me? Better than our C.205. Actually, during a 1943 combat-test performed by Luftwaffe and Regia Areonautica, the Fw190A-5 climbed better to 20,000ft than the C.205N (about 4 sq/mt wing area more than the C.205V) and like the G.55 "Centauro" and the Re2005 "Sagittario", with the latter *not* climbing at full rpm (you know, italians, they always spare fuel   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif))

I'm very curious to see how will be our Fw 190A-5.

The A-5 is planned. It's not a tough variant to do, but we have a lot on our plate. Once Nate finishes the interior of the Panzer, he's gonna work on some bomber details. Time permitting, he may be able to get an A-5 together for the next version.
