Title: Fuel percentage choice
Post by: SkiShill on September 14, 2009, 07:04:02 PM
It seems to me the Lancaster flew 60 min with 25% fuel a few weeks ago.  The past weeks it flies 42 min with 25%.  When you take 50% the climb rate drops in half.  I suggest the ability to change fuel loads by %. As in  .fuel 30% or .fuel 35%. This could get my flight time back to 60 min & not kill the climb rate..    SkiShill.

That depends on the altitude, manifold pressure, RPMs, and the # of bombs your carrying.

by 5%, this can be a good idea  :aok

Personally, I've always longed for the chance to fill your tanks separately if you wanted to... that way you could trim your aircraft to whatever you feel best with once you get to the 'advanced stages' of flying.  Keep the current system for those starting out, but provide a finer adjustment for those who would like to customize it a bit.  It could be similar to Convergence where you go to a different view of the aircraft, perhaps with some fuel drums in view.

funny... I believe SOP back then was to have %100 fuel on bombing runs.

Even though my opinion doesnt count, I think being able to take Lancs from a front line base, fully loaded with ord and only %25 fuel, and take them up to 5k (or less) for the Stuka-Lanc runs, is a travesty.

I wish for HTC to rid us of the %25 option in all aircraft, and us of thebility to take DT with less than %100 fuel.

What if you need to defend a base and it just does not make seance to take a heavy fighter?

Lancaster fuel loadouts now loads corresponding fuel % correctly.

Little more than a few weeks but this might have something to do with it.
