I wish that part of the sand wouln't register as water. My squadie FYB and I were going to land a B26 near the enemy's dar ring, FYB landed it on the beach, but hey, what do you know, the sand acted like water. We sunk into the sand, and our gear and propellers were wrecked. I recorded it too. If someone will tell me how to post videos here, you can all see.
Earlier in the month, I was defending a base with a GV against a carrier attack, and when I pulled too far forward ON THE SAND, I sank and got stuck which eventually killed me.

turn on detailed water......... fixed
-
It was on. Since it only happened twice, is it possible that its lag?
-
No.
It probably has something to do with the transitional tiles. I won't say much more about it since I don't know how the game registers ground and water.
-
Completely agree to this. Me and Nemisis were going on one of our ub3r spy missions and we "landed" in the sand which for some reason was water... I had detailed terrain (water) on. No clue why but my wheels went into the sand and then my props went "SKABUPITY".

Keep in mind the new terrain has shallows, now, rather than an abrupt transition from water to land.

Color should be added then. I can't tell now whether it's water, land or quick sand. Why? No different shades, just blue and brown. I like the realism of the shallowness, but at least add some shade to it. It looks just like normal sand/dirt/something.

Why don't you lead the way? After all, the tiles (including beach transitions) are, "open-source."

Happy birthday.

Question,
Would it be wise to land a plane on a Beach in real life?
Chances are it is going to get stuck in the sand, so not if you intended to take off again (or if you had the appropriate tires for such a landing)
-
did you reduce your tire pressure ? it works best for sandy terrains :D
On topic it happened to my squaddie SD67 with a goon also

Hell no.

sounds pretty realistic to me.

It requires for maps to be rebuilt in the TE with new tiles.
Basically right now if you don't have a wntt1010 texture file what will happen is that the normal land beach tile (ntt1010) will be applied along the coastline if there is water depth along the coastline. Resulting in the beach texture being shown under the water affect of detailed water. You can spot it once you get used to it and have time to observe but it can be a pain.
So FYB what denholm is saying is open up the TE, start a terrain and create a terrain tile for almost pure mix (in your graphic) and save it as wntt1010. Although even if you do this basically the original creator of the terrain or HTC needs to go in and rebuild the terrain with the new terrain tile that has been created and being used.
I know they were planning on converting terrains and I am not sure where they have gotten to with the MA terrains. For the SEA terrains only Luzon and Coral Sea have been updated and have good beach to water transitional tiles put in place.

Frame rate drops to 10. Broke again

apparently the low end PC players get the short straw and have to "guess where the water is" because their computer can't handle the high end graphics,
well I am one of those players and and lets just say it sucks!

I do recall when I flew w/o detailed terrain/water, the "beach" did extend out a little ways, for instance at a port, the port looked like a dry dock. ;)

I wish the Cv task forces knew that.
-
I ignore the sand and choose solid land.

Lol, A while ago, I landed a goon near a GV battle. I was 1k from the nearest enemy tank. I forgot to record it, I even made it off the ground!!!!

Nope, but, as FYB put it, we were on one of our ub3r spy missions and had to pick up inflitrators. We used a B26 because they were carrying samples of enemy radar equipment, blueprints for lazer guided munitions, and blueprints and operation manuels for that nazi uber tank. The one with the 105 mm gun in addition to those two 250mm cosal guns.

Yup!

We had to have an LVT come pick up the equipment and blueprints and such, then carry it up onto land, where we called a B26 flown our CO TheAce, which then proceded to pick up the equipment, the infiltraters, and the humiliated FYB and I. Thanks to the escepades of FYB and myself, the Knights no longer shall pose any threat what so ever, once more.

Exactly! :D

What he said.

I play on low detail mode and when detailed water is turned off, the sand/beaches look very large but as OP mentions this is in fact the shallow water. When I turn detailed water on, the shoreline fixes itself.
-
The point isn't that we were stupid enough to try and land a bomber in the middle of a battle, but rather that this seems like a pretty serious flaw to GV'ers. When defending against CV attacks, I pull a tank out onto the beach so I can attack the LVT's as fast as I can. I know something like 100 yds seems like small change, but that is enough to let me see the carrier burning off shore. I have several screenshots of it lurking on my computer some where.
