field guns are 40mm bofors, correct?
They labels say 37mm in the hangar.

That's because they are 37mm. Manned 40mm are on the ships.

I've understood that the mannable field guns are German 37mm FlaKs.

you can understand my confusion.
they look very similar! other than the mount and the color of the recoil spring

LOL Kvuo75 you think that's confusing, I've been working on some new custom sounds and on the PT Boat it gets a little confusing.
The 37mm cannon on the bow uses the 30mm_1 sound file and the 40mm cannon on the stern uses the 37mm_1 sound file. LOL I understand why they did it, but at first it was a bit confusing at first.

Just to round out the topic, unmanned field guns are quad 20mm mounts. :D
