<clap clap clap>
As most of you know, I'm crazy about Gabriesky's Bubble top P47 late 56th camo with invasion stripes. I'm trying to gather nice pics/drawings/paintings from his plane.
If you have any other nice looking bubble P47 pics, feel free to send to.
Post here or email me to rauns@mindspring.com.
Here is what I have so far (Warnign, in a non fancy web page, lot of pics).

Is this the 500lb bomb rider? If so, the pilot survived the blast of his own bomb.

What a mess, I bet it took several days to repair this Jug.

bah there's not even enough left to cannibalize that Jug.
-
I wonder how many people have been less than fifteen feet from a 500lb bomb blast...and lived. Talk about a ride.
How would a FW 190 do for pilot survival in a case like this...? :-) (BAD M.C.202)

Hi Frenchy! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) <clap clap clap!>
I've done some color-by-numbers side view drawings... taking a side
outline picture and adding color, insignia etc. I'm getting better
with each one. Take a look here (http://www.jump.net/~cs3/sides) if you like. Eventually,
I'm going to do some 3d renderings... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Oh yeah, here's a photo (click for much larger desktop size version):

Oh and Snafu, that's a razorback. Probably P-47D-15 to P-47D-20...
I'd say. Note the front of the canopy... wedged instead of rounded.
Also note the wing pylons. The olive drab (probably) paint scheme
(it ain't natural metal finish that's for sure) suggests pre- D-21,
as the D-21 arrived from the factory in NMF.

"I caught him at 3,000 feet, pulled up behind him and fired,
but observed no hits. I closed in again and fired. This time a big
explosion occurred in the fuselage and flames bulged out of
the tail of his plane. The whole tail appeared to melt, and
he went down in flames."
Lt. Col. Gabby Gabreski, 27 June 1944, reporting on his
27th kill, an Me-109.

Nah, it wont happen. German's superior pilots aren't so dumb as allieds, and they dont drom 500lbs bombs under their own belly (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
