Title: Windows Experience Index..New processor
Post by: Dace on September 16, 2009, 08:11:54 PM
Bought an E8400 today, upgrading from an E7400. When I did my Windows Experience Index rating, the processor rating dropped from 5.2 to 5.0. How the heck could that be?

EDIT: Just did it again and it said 5.4. :huh

I would take the index rating with a big grain of salt.  What you should have done is done some system benchmarks before and after the new processor was installed to get a real gauge on what has improved.

What are the bench mark apps you recommend?

Do u feel the computer is faster or slower than before. Tjats the benchmark I use. Others use 3dmark, it has a free d/l.

My index is 5.9, will this increase with a 64 bit OS?

(I know it matters little, I'm just curious)

edit: bah, disregard. I guess the index caps at 5.9
