Title: Cheater Alert!
Post by: Maniac on August 30, 2001, 05:56:00 AM
No not really, not yet anyway.

Check out this program http://aimbot.tripod.com/ (http://aimbot.tripod.com/)

Its originally for CounterStrike but i bet an kewldood easy could do something similar for AH (WB team was an bit concered about such progs anyway).

Djust wanted to give HTC heads up for such things...

Regards.

Maniac,

the way this aimbot works is very simple.  Other player models have a map over them of the hitable areas, when the mouse moves over these the gun will autofire since the aimbot knows at that moment it will score a hit.

This is not possible in AH because the program models bullet trajectories and so forth.  Counterstrike doesnt.  As I'm sure you're aware, the guns firing when the crosshairs are over the target will not result in a hit unless flying at zero G with no lateral or vertical movement between the time the bullet is fired and reaching the target range.

The short answer is:  Counterstrike aimbots dont work with deflection shooting.

I really hope your right about this, but anyways here is an snip from what others have to say about aimbot

Unfortunately quite a few people *do* remember when aim-bots and Zekes/Camel with 75mm guns were the go for a few squads in early 2.x Warbirds/DOA and 1.1x Warbirds

I don't see why aimbot wouldn't work with Warbirds III. Leading your target has nothing to do with aimbot. It does it for you. All I can say is I hope HS has something in place for this nasty little cheat. If he doesn't then all he has to do is contact BROKEN and ask for a copy of it.

Still hope YOU are right tough. Hate cheaters...

;)

I'm not saying it isnt possible to design a lead calculating aimbot for a flight sim......I'm just saying the Counterstrike one isnt editable to work in AH.

Yes, but there are certain games out there that have already been ruined by this thing. I wish programmers would consider the consequences before initiating such projects.

yeah counter-strike is probably the game where everyone cheats.

That aimbot appears to work by putting a mesh over the player models in a certain colour (users choice) then doing the auto fire thing.

Its hard to think of a way to make an aimbot for online sims, but when i used to play the early betas of CS i couldnt think of a cheat for that either   :D

It may be possible if a programmer can think of a way to do it, im no programmer so i cant think of how it could be done.  I just hope that it never happens, cheating is jsut cheating yourself, not anyone else.

Why people cheat i do not know, wouldnt the game just be so boring if it was that easy?

Programmers generally know the consequences of their gamecheat applications (not like its a big secret). What makes you think that they are not getting their desired results?

Counterstike or DoD players can get punkbuster from punkbuster.com and play on punkbuster enabled servers to avoid cheaters...  most servers will say if they have punkbuster enabled if you look in gamespy.

The one thing everyone overlooks here is that Aimbot is an extremely simple 2-dimensional solution.

LCOS for AH (or WB or WW2OL) would require a 4-dimensional solution. Its not a hard thing to do, but it would require a hook into the FE code, and from my understanding any modification to the code results in the AH server spitting the dummy at a modified FE.

I can't say I'm a technical expert, but my friend is. He works at a Korean On-line game company. Korea now has near 50% total population hooked on-line to internet via cheap cable network  :) , and the on-line multiplayer gaming community has grown huge, and with it, many instances of on-line cheaters. Most on-line gaming companies have sort of "special forces" with in their ranks to  especially track out on-line cheat methods.

Of course, I don't know how HTC manages its gaming metabolism, nor does my friend know, but he says most of the times these sorts of on-line games are quite simular in theory. And, though layman like me couldn't understand a single technical WORD he was saying  :D, I did ask him if cheats were possible in these sorts of games, and he said theoretically, it's simple.

What I remeber what he said was the actions and inputs of one individual user is basically just simply interpreted via the server medium, and if the would-be cheater has enough knowledge to alter codes and stuff, all he has to do is change the way how things are interpreted... if it were in AH, he could 'change' his own plane armor into titanium  :( if he wished, by changing the way the attacker's 'shoot' command is put through the server and reaches the cheater's end to give results as 'damage'.

Of course, this wouldn't be as easy as it sounds.. like just breaking and dismantling AH codes won't give you knowledge enough to actually 'mold' itto one's own will.. but I'd say IF there IS a dedicated hacker freak who has interest in AH, cheating will be seen, and quite often, unless security measures are heightened.

As good as digital communities are, they are equally as bad  :( I truly wish no hacker freak ever lays his hands on AH.

why on earth do you want to tell ANYONE about a crappy cheat programme?

jesus WHAT IS THE POINT?

all i can see this thread doing is showing those idiots who want to cheat where to start looking!

and we now have an idea who would use these type of programmes dont we? you wouldnt know about them if you didnt, at some point, experiment with them.

I can understand maybe using a cheat to get past a certain stage of a game you cant beat but REALLY whats the point in cheating?
You get the win which takes no effort and then what? brag that youre great? feel any sense of achievement?

Sorry but i think this is another dumb post. maniac what are you doing mate? This is what is ruining internet games. You want to let HTC know? send an email!
HTC remove this dumb thread.

Ive sword fenced for England in hungary and there were cheats at that competition. Its the most dispicable toejame anyone could pull to take a medal or award from someone who actually deserves the recognition for their skill.Id rather lose(or not compete) than win by cheating,so poke your aimbot up your A**

I believe it's just the express of concern Hazed. But I do agree with you maybe some people were a bit hasty in mentioning specific 'programs'.

As for the 'what is the point of cheating' line  :) Well.. why DO people lie and cheat..? I guess the experience of UBERNESS in scores is actually more rewarding to some than learning and experiencing heightened sense of intense combat  :(

I am guessing from reading at that web site , we can be glad that AH won't let anyone change the skins in the game . Seems the "aimbot" looks for certain colors . I remember some in CFS1 that had red planes etc , always thought that was to be able to see them better , but with the yellow brackets , maybe it was for something like this ?

burn all the cheating scum , hehe .
