Title: In tradition....
Post by: Strip on September 17, 2009, 12:05:04 PM
Seeing how one third of the first general discussion page is about whines I thought to add my own.

With all due respect please stop the Dick Bong, Yeager, Lindbergh or whoever is a ho'er threads. Some threads have elected to add valuable tidbits of history which I commend. However, the very title detracts from any bit of historical value they may or may not have. If you want to make a thread about someones actions at least make a title that shows some respect to the subject or person involved. Five threads with WW2 legends being called ho'ers is not very endearing to the community, regardless of the posting intent.

Thanks for reading...

I absolutely agree about the degrading characterization of these pilots. These are some (of many) of the best fighter pilots known and in their own right have proven their expertise and bravery in combat. Did they HO when necessary - yes as many of their reports allude to. They certainly do not deny it nor consider they did something wrong. BUT by many of the standards of some individuals here that makes them tards and unskilled and beneath their contempt as they have so many times proclaimed by their denegrading comments about the HO ACM.

I feel that is disgraceful and totally uncalled for.

Please don't play the History vs Cartoon card here either. That's a red herring trotted out by some to sideline the issues.

Our heros deserve our respect and should be hailed for their courage.  :salute

...cheers eh!

Sorry, I was just having a little fun with the topic of the day.

I do think it is interesting that a significant number of Bong's kills came via H/O passes.

I had heard this many years ago and looked it up today.

With real life on the line, to have the cajones to do that actually demonstrates his bravery.

No disrespect intended to a man who achieved 40 air to air kills. Amazing.

I just posted Hartmann...everyone else is s spamming copycat...every other "blahblah is a ho'er" thread could have been added to the Hartmann thread without a problem if the average IQ level here exceeded shoe sizes.
