Title: For the Texans
Post by: LCCajun on September 18, 2009, 02:44:07 AM
I was wondering if any of ya'll know if there is a study guide for the TCLEOSE test. It looks like the only way I will be able to get on with New Braunfels PD is if I am already TCLEOSE certified. I have 3 years law enforcement, but we use POST in Louisiana. Well thanks <S>.

Unless they changed the rules, you can only take the TCLEOSE test after you meet certain qualifications in the State Of Texas.  One I know is attending and successfully completing an approved academy.  Not sure how it works for experience officers from other states, but I think you may have to be hired first before you can take the test.

Here's a link for your practice tests    http://www.tletca.org/test.html

Good Luck

Victoria College online tests helped me the most when I took TCLEOSE, made it very easy.

Call Austin (I'm at work right now, or I'd look up the link/number) and find out what you need to do to challenge TECLOSE. Some can, but ther are some states where their officers would have to attend an abreviated academy. Lousianna may be one of these, due to the fact that it's laws are based on the Nepoleonic Code and Texas law is based on English Common Law. In any case, good luck with your quest to become a Texas LEO.   :salute

Im sure if you call Austin they can provide study material and then maybe you can challenge the test. I listed some testing dates here in San Antonio since you said you were trying for NBPD and im not sure if you are still living in LA.

EDIT*  I just noticed the supplemental course has already started
