Title: I could use some dance tips, please..
Post by: EskimoJoe on September 19, 2009, 06:57:38 PM
I'm going to a school dance later this evening (8:00pm local time) and I could use some pointers.. I'm not looking for anything too fancy, just need some simple steps to fit in. I'm not one to do things in public, heck it terrifies me to speak up in front of class. So, any pointers?

Thanks in advance  :)

Well, you're in the same predicament as me when it comes to dancing. Good thing with here is, most have dances where the guys sit there and the girls well, "grind".  :lol

Easiest dance in the world, you stand there and look around.  ;)

From the movie Young Doctors in Love:

-"I have three jobs: Intern, Security Guard and Dance Hall Guy.  I charge a dollar a dance.  A dollar fifty for the Rumba."   :D

Wanna get laid?

LEARN TO DANCE  !  (but learn to do it well)

It is as easy as that.  (even better if you learn well enough to teach a few steps to the ladies)

It doesn't have to be anything complicated or exotic. An East Coast Swing (or West Coast swing will do)

Even a 2-step will work well, if country music is predominantly popular where you live.

I have been a Disc Jockey for 20 years and this is the utmost truth.  There are 2 kinds of guys at a club or dance.

1) Guys who sit at the wall or bar.....    They get drunk (which in itself is not always that bad)

2) Guys that can dance......    They get laid.

When the girls do what that one in 5PointOh's sig is doing...DO NOT give her anything more than a $5...if you do she will hang you out to dry.

I realize this is a bit late now, but in the vast majority of the cases if you are unsure of your skills less is more.

Also Von in my experience my dancing ability (you know, real dancing) becomes null and void when I enter a bar/club.

Well, you're in the same predicament as me when it comes to dancing. Good thing with here is, most have dances where the guys sit there and the girls well, "grind".  :lol

Easiest dance in the world, you stand there and look around.  ;)

Some of that crap and voila, real dancing skills are useless.  However, put me in a wedding and it's business time.   :rock  :devil

The best tip I ever learned when dancing to any sort of music would be: let the music carry you and move to the beat. It helps to be either crazy tired, on a sugar rush, or slightly intoxicated for this to work well. Also, make plans beforehand with a large group of friends or acquaintances on a particular dance. Ya see, the actors in the school musical this year (including me) are going to do the Spanish Panic on the dance floor. As in, that kind of plan.

Somehow I doubt asking a bunch of 30+ year old men on a forum how to dance will be conducive to your high school experience.. :aok

You are absolutely spot on!  :aok

The 'Hitch' approach is and has been my approach to Rock and Pop since before Rock. When I married the wife I took her to:

http://fortmyersfredastaire.com/

and not only did she learn to dance with me and myself with her but... well it was a lot of fun.  :D

Unless some of them know how to dance  :D

I know I can book more jobs at a higher price if I have more services to offer   :aok
