Title: Error with new TE
Post by: Larry on September 20, 2009, 02:42:33 AM
So I downloaded the new TE today but after installing and reinstalling numerous times I get this message after I try to open the TE. Anyone know how to fix it?

could be the file path, the new version is in C:\HITECH CREATIONS and not program files,or is supposed to be anyway with the new update, this message shows that you downloaded the TE to program files, this may not be it but its something to check :salute

If you're running XP, it's best to keep both the old editor and the new one until waffle releases one that uses less resources. Keeping them in separate directory paths allows them both to work without shape library conflicts. It's only my guess, but I'd say that's what's happening.

It is a SideBySide error where a dependent assembly, Microsoft.VC90.CRT, is not found.  Running Live Update for the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (KB951847) will installed the required VC90.CRT to run the new TE.

Technically the TE may not require .NET Framework, but for some reason when HTC was preparing the TE for deployment, they did not incorporate the required policy (policy_9_0_microsoft_vc90_crt _x86.msm) to install the dependent Mirosoft.VC90.CRT files. (At least that is what I’m guessing.)

I was getting the same "application has failed to start" error and updating .Net Framework to Service Pack 1 moved me from VC80 to VC90 which was needed to run the TE.  There may be other ways then updating .NET Framework to get the required dependent assemblies that where not included with the TE.

The TE does NOT require the .NET framework.  The problem is a compile time problem and will be fixed with the next terrain editor release.

Yes, it is available now.

It can be found by clicking here (http://downloads1.hitechcreations.com/AHEDIT2151.EXE).
