Title: Torpedo Sight

Can we get an actual torpedo sight for the TBM? Diagram is from a B-25 (oh yeah, which also needs torpedoes and the sight) but from the description on the General Discussion board I swiped this from it was actually the TBM's scope they used.

Excellent find Sax...

Now, how would HTC model that sight in AH2?  (honest question to see if you had an idea for implementation)

Ummm, maby similar to the bomb sight where it corrects for alt, wind, speed, etc. Only this would correct for your speed, how fast the fleets travel, and angel at which your flying compared to the fleet.

Well Stoney I've been thinking about how to make a torpedo director, since I found it last year. I think it could work something like this; (these are all dot commands)

from the pilots seat in F1 mode.

1.) type ".td" in the command buffer
     - the torpedo director would then become visible clamped over the gun sight

2.) type ".targetspeed 35" in the command buffer
-this would set the target speed arm of the director (not sure this is really necissary as the TG speed is constant, except for the turns)

3.) type ".targetcourse XXX" in the command buffer  (where XXX equals the target course)
-this would set the director to parallel the target course (you'd have to "shadow" the TG to actually determine its course before setting the TD up)

4.) type .locktd
-this would move the torpedo director into position with the proper settings. You'd be ready to fire once you got into the attack position, remember this sight only works for a 90 degree beam attack.

This would definitely aid the torpedo attacker but, just like real life, a maneuvering target would still be very difficult to attack. I hope we could get something like this in the future for all the torpedo bombers, as most countries had torpedo sights similar to this.

BTW here's a hi-res close-up of the B-2 Torpedo Director.   :aok
