Title: GV sounds
Post by: 5PointOh on September 20, 2009, 05:27:29 PM
Since 2.15 P1 I am no longer hearing sound when GV rounds hit my GV.  Checked in game sounds, they are all up. Any ideas?  Was ok before recent patch.

I get a sort of whisper sound when hit! Like a swhoosh sound!

I think it's a new sound.  I hear it now too with the latest version.  Need to find out what it's called.

As an actual GV sounds "bug" that irritates me;
All external GVs inherit the tank gun and reloading sounds of your current vehicle. Rather redonkulous to site next to a Tiger in your M8 and head "Psst....clink-clunk" out of it. :D

Tried changing sound packs, no help.  Skuzzy any idea why I might not be hearing hit sounds on my gvs? Namely when another GV hits me?

I have had the same thing happen to me. But as an added kicker I hear a ping then nothing then a swish and I'm back in tower.

Makes me curious as to whether you're all using a soundpack with an improper hit sound.

Then I wonder if your sound chip is unable to handle it...

Your drivers are very slightly out of date, but I wouldn't blame them. You never know, though.

I also had same problem till lastnight I put hit_6 sound in all the GV folders even though it was alrdy in the root sound folder.  Damm, I forgot if I renamed it though in the gv folders to hit_1 because I think hit_6 was not playing in the game.  When I get home I will check my folder again.

Confirmed what I did and that was rename hit_6 to hit_1 in the GV folders only.  Seems like the GV hit sounds link to hit_6 got disconnected from the root sounds folder and is now linked to hit_1.

Thanks Dogg, will try it and see. I'm guessing you're right though.

Curious if HTC can confirm what has happened with the GV hit sounds (hit_6).  Would like to know in case I need to change the files in the soundpack.  In the previous versions, the GV hit sound for a main shell hit was hit_6.  Its now playing hit_1 which is a ricoshay hit sound.

Are yas going to change it back to hit_6 or leave it as hit_1 now?

The sound I hear when I am hit but it doesnt sound like a hard hit is the same sound you hear when AAA grazes the ground with 20mm and yet it will kill you.

That's exactly because of what AKDogg said two posts above. hit_1 was a ground impact effect and hit_6 was a tank round penetration. Apparently they've switched recently, probably on accident on somebody's part.

Seems like an association problem then. Hopefully Dogg has got their attention on it.

Skuzzy, I didn't see this as a bug fix in the latest patches.  Has this issue been addressed?

Apparently this got missed in the list of changes but this should be fixed now.
