Just wondering why the hell(Im pretty mad :mad: ) no-one escorts bombers,all the fighter boys too busy furballin at 100ft to get their perks for 262s?.
I put up 4 B17s in formation tonight to a target,requested escort-none came,we got raped over target while on bomb run.
If we're getting all this strat in the 'game' now,depots,trucks,trains etc lots of lovely targets to bomb,aint it time fighters started thinking strategicly and started escorting their big friends a bit more?
I cant be the only buff pilot thinking this way surely? :(

well guess what?
I upped in a 262 headed to 22 found Nigun in a lanc with symaw as his gunner and proceeded to escort them over their target of 22.
I ended up with 6 kills mostly shooting bandits off their tail.
fighters will escort you if you make them realize that they can get multiple kills doing so.

I love to escort, I always fly long missions protecting buffs if I have the gas to do so.

One of the best ways to get more escourt is to join a coheasive squad. Most squads will fly coordinated missions to protect bombers.

I am speaking for my squad the 56th FG is always upi to scortin forts to targets. We are currently flying knits.

Nop you're not.
Sadly the importance of bombers have been lowered drasticly and less and less ppl care about em'

As pollock said, we have a long history to scort buffs in the 56th. JOC, u knew about it already, didn't you? :)

Probably because most of the calls for escort usually go like this:
buff: "buff needs cover. I'm deep over enemy territory... OMG there is a fighter on my 6 closing fast!"
30 sec later
buff: "Why didn't anybody cover the 50 miles and climb 10,000ft from the nearest friendly air base to save me from the fighter I just told you about 30 seconds ago that just intercepted me because I flew into enemy territory while still climbing at 140mph????"
If buff pilots tried to organise support in a way that was... well... more organised, there might be more fighter jocks willing to cover them. Also, buffers need to fly smart and grab all their alt before heading into nme territory. I try to help any friendly I can but buffers need to realise that effective cover is only achieved through a little forethought and planning. Some buff guys do this, most don't.
Anyway, that's just this fighter jocks perspective. I bet it's not even worth 2 cents these days. :cool:

Yep, always get the escort BEFORE entering enemy airspace. If you dont then calling for it after that wont help.

hehe... sorry bout that JOC...couldnt help myself...4 b17's at 15k all alone.....it draws planes like fly's on chit...wierd though, it only drew me for some reason. :rolleyes:

Lol Fariz,nope,the call for escort went out on take off,Im not that stupid to call for escort near target or deep in enemy territory,was just miffed that no-one came,as in the future we'll be putting up bigger formations,hehe,maybe we should try Rooks or Knights too,there must be escort somewhere hehehe :p

I can vouch that the 412th has helped the Nightmares with escorts countless number of time when we needed it. If you go Rook I'll tell you my secret ;).
Seriously, the Nightmares help with escorts as well. The Rooks are really good about that. I've never had a problem with this. I'll be approaching a base that's under attack in my Lancaster and say there are Lancs otw to the base and need escort and boom the next thing you know we have 6 escorts from people we don't even know.
Now that's team work!

i tried to escort a bomber in my 109f4 yesterday - it kept leaving me in the dust! i guess you have to have the right plane. it is no match at stopping a speeding la7 :)

I intercepted a Lanc OTW Bish HQ last night who was escorted by a 190. I killed them both and smiled. :)

ROTFLMAO Staga!
Right now at my house I'm deathly sick and can't sleep all that great so I turned on the pc to kill some time before I had to wake the kids up for school. Then my 3 year old walked up to me about 15 minutes ago just talking a mile a minute. So I sat him on my lap and went to that sheep website and watched it for about a minute next thing you know my son is snoring.....lol.
I have that saved on my favorites! :D

Bah, you had a b17 bomber with 3 b17 escorts for crying out loud!!!!.
Was flying a P38 today climbing up to a B17, fediddleer dove on me and pinged me to death when I wasn't looking.
