Well I remember a few weeks ago that HT said that there would be no B25 but into AH. When I asked him why, he said the reason it would not be put in was because he hated it. I don't like the fact that the game will be denied a great plane just because he dislikes it. I mean I hate the F4U-1C, and would really like the see it removed, but alas that will never happen. I'm sad that I'll never see my B25H with its 12 .50 cals mounted in the nose. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Thats not what Pyro said. I asked him 2 days ago about the B-25 and he said their will definatly be one but that its not the highest priority.
BTW the B-25 with the 8 .50s was the K model
The H had the 75mm canon
-
I'm pretty sure HTC will get to the B-25 eventually. It was used by several countries and took part in some of the most interesting missions of the war.
BTW Bravo25, H and J models could be equipped with 8 fixed forward-firing fifties. This was standard on the H but required a modification on the J.
The modification on the J consisted of a "strafer nose" kit that could be added at the factory or at a modification center. Standard B-25J's had 4 fifties in blister packs plus one or two fixed guns in the lower right portion of the glass nose. The strafer nose kit retained the blister packs but swapped the glass nose for a solid nose with 4 fifties.

FYI, HiTech intensely dislikes being misquoted. Not sure he likes being quoted period.
Just saying..

I'm not quoting (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif), however, when I was in the game a few days ago Pyro 'mentioned' that the B-25 would be added eventually and said the Ju-88 would `probably' be the next twin engined bomber added to AH. But that's just what I heard. Don't quote me either!..hehe

I'd like to see an A-20 havoc before a b25

NO 25 ARRRGGHHHHHHH She's too sweet an airplane and too important for the scnarios to be left out .. i hope the well "low" priority list isn't err .. "too long" (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
-
Well.. I would be quite happy not getting a B-25, if we got the A-26 Invader instead (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Just a note for you historians....purely anecdotal of course. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
The 345th Air Apaches flew B-25 C models with 8 forward firing fifties early in the war during the New Guinea campaign.
Four .50's were mounted in the nose and 4 more in two blisters on each side of the cockpit. These were "field mods", not factory, initially. American ingenuity at work; they needed to suppress the flak guns when bombing airfields.
The "strafer nose" with 8 .50's came along after that and some were modified "in the field" in New Guinea, some in Australia and in the US as well.
There were lots of other armament experiments as well. One thing they tried was mounting 8 more .30 cal MG in the bomb bay. They were racked 4 to a side and hung at a 45 degree angle. The bomb bay doors were opened and the guns were fired as the plane flew across an enemy airfield. So these "flak supressors" led the squadron and hit the field with 8 .50's and 8. 30's. This mod didn't catch on, however and was not pursued.
Just a little anecdotal info....from my father, a guy who "went there, did that"...and flew a C model with 8 forward firing .50's., 4 nose/4 blister.

(http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Wasn't miss quoted this time.
Sorry you didn't see my facetiousness. Of course we will be doing a b25 and I realy don't hate it at all. That night if I rember correctly people were asking if we would be doing this plane and that plane. It seem so obvious to me that we would be doing a b25 at some point that I couldn't resist giving you a hard time.

*wipes tear* really HT? Awwww maybe I will get the see my B25 with 12 50s mounted in the nose.

Cool Toad! Can you ask him about wing bomb racks or the external torpedo rack? These are in a lot of the manuals for the plane but not in that many photos.
-
Funk,
Believe it or not, he's 79 and fairly up to speed on the net; never was one to sit and rust. In fact, he's still flying his own PT-26.
I'll try to get HIM on here to answer that stuff. I remember a lot of the warstories but obviously not the way he does.
I'll send him the address and see what happens.
He flew an H model from Savannah to Nadzab as one of the 345th's first group of replacements. He's talked about the 75mm some but only one squadron in the 345th flew the G/H and his wasn't it. So he never shot it in combat.
I don't ever remember him talking external bomb racks or torps.
One funny story is about the time they ran out of the 29lb parafrags. They used those to knock out airfields. American ingenuity again...they had plenty of rebar for concrete, so they wrapped multiple bands of rebar around 500 pounders and off they went.
Think they hit Hollandia with those. Worked pretty well. Rebar will go thru several airplanes before it starts to slo down (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
He said when the bombs went off, coconut palms fell like matchsticks!
I'll pass this on to him.

I work on a B25 just about every weekend, take it to airshows to, need any 25 questions answered just ask. Side blisters were disliked, seemed it shook like mad and required extra plating. Toad does your dad have the book "Warpath Across the Pacific" by Hickey? The best group history bar none, amazing photos and a TON of info on the 345th including the different versions they went through, highly recommend this book.

Geesh HT, why'd you blow a such a perfectly good opportunity to yank the entire community's chain!?
'Twoud have been much for fun to post here and say that the B25 is only gonna get modeled over your dead body, or something like that, and then prop up a lawn chair!

SnakeEyes, you don't know Beefcake very well. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I think his head might have exploded if HT said no. You ever see "Scanners". Even HT would feel guilty if he caused something like that. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
