Many thanks Ghastly.   I did a search for this topic but it missed this thread, finding only the original announcement of the product back a few months ago.

Cheers!

Sure, there are a few who have already purchased one.. I definately like it..
This is my first set of rudder peds, so I'm still getting used to that.. Jeez its killin my knees!! Didn't anticipate that!
Judging your E/state is far easier because you can FEEL it thru the stick..  You can FEEL the edge of a stall as well!!
It was worth it, just for those two things... There are tons of other features that are extra's, beyond that...
Mount the stick securely, because the FFB is strong, and it will move the base around on its own..
Tons of stuff to still program, so I'm still workin with it.. Getting used to these commands being on the controls instead of KB..
If you are hit in your planes control surfaces, the stick transmits that to your hand, very cool..
The stick matches up with the control mapper in game perfectly, no issues there, very easy to program, except for the MASSES of options!!!
In a way, its almost like starting over!!!

For those who think a dual throttle will give a maneuverability improvement to twin engine AC?  It is negligible, almost can't tell at all!!!
I think this is an error in the game tho!!  Just doesn't make sense!!!

Only one prob so far, Brakes work backwards.. Have to push toe brakes to RELEASE the brakes... Strange!!!
Tires don't blow, and the plane doesn't nose over in game, so no biggie, but very ODD feeling...

I like it, I'll never go back to a nonFFB stick... It adds tons to the game!!!

Yeah, I know, just haven't had the time to mess with it again lately...
LOL, wish the 940 had come out earlier, I'm kinda on the outward slide from the game these days..
Used to MAKE time to play, but the way some things are going gameplay wise, haven't bothered much lately..
About 3 hours total online since May.. But hell, HT owns it, he can make it anyway he wants, it's HIS RIGHT to do so!!!
Wife asks me why I still pay for it when I hardly play anymore?  Gettin harder to come up with a good answer!!

But whatever, its a miniscule thing in my world.. And I'm sure HT won't miss my $15 a month..

The 940 is a good stick tho..

RC try some hammerheads and spin recovery in the P-38. You'll notice a difference.

Rip is correct though about using duel throttles to gain any maneuverability edge, it just lets you make nice looking hammerheads, help in spin recoveries and increase the immersion factor.  The duel throttle is not going to be a determining factor in out flying the other guy.

Here is an excerpt from my P38 clinic.

Quote
Before we begin, I'd like to talk about dual throttle control. You do NOT need dual throttles to be able to fly the P38 effectively and the few cases it is helpful aren't worth the headaches in my opinion. I have dual throttle control but I do not use it most of the time. Here are the few cases dual throttle control is helpful;

1. Throttling down one engine to compensate for a missing wing, you can fly straight and level with this.

2. Great hammerheads, you can really squeeze every last bit of energy out of the plane and can reverse very quickly.

3. Immersion (AKAK quote).

4. Spin recovery.

5. Making great 'donuts' on the runway.

6. Out of plane, last ditch efforts (cut one engine and roll it hard).

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the Yaw reaction to one chopped throttle...  I tried it under extreme conditions too..
I loaded an A20 Maxed out, 8x500's, full tank of gas.. Auto takoff, then slowly increased the angle of climb until as much
load as possible was hangin on the props with WEP on, and minimal airspeed... Then chopped one throttle to idle...
The plane lost speed and stalled out sure, but the Yaw reaction was minimal... Almost nonexistant...

Tried it with a 110 and 38 as well, same'o same'o... Hmmm, thats definately not right, LOL!!!

Can you support that statement?  I believe your expectations are in error rather than the modeling.

BTW there's a new version of the software out. The shift function now works on the throttle buttons as well as the stick buttons.

You have one, go ahead and try it...  If you shutdown the engine, you get the full effect, even before the prop slows down...
But for some reason, not with the engine idled.. Thats not right!!!

Haven't had to get into the shift buttons yet, haven't needed to..
Thx FLS, I'll look for that!!!  At the logi homepage?

I haven't compared pulling power off to shutting the engine off. Maybe there's a difference in prop pitch that makes a difference in drag.

The software is on the Logitech support downloads page.

Have you unzipped the SDK and run the demo program? You can manually set the button colors.

try going into a vertical in a 38 with someone about 1000 of your six and chop one throttle and work the rudder over that way right before you stall and your 38 will almost flip a 180.

i really want to try this setup but i have nowhere to mount the thing.  I am in college and dont want to drill holes in the desk   Is there any other way to mount it?

Branch, grab a simple bentwood chair,30 bucks new or fleamarkets for $5.

Then get 2 or 3 square feet of 1/2inch plywood, cut to size and screw the wood to arms of chair.

then just mount hardware and Bob's ur uncle.... I made 2 plywood shapes that looked like a pingpong paddle, used what would be the handle of the paddle to fasten to the arms of an old compchair.

Now I have a bentwood chair that holds all my junk, mounted a usb hub to chair and just plug the chair in when I want to fly....

I have my X52 screwed onto a balsa cutting board.  When playing, it sits on my lap and it's out of the way when I'm not.
