Since the last 3 patches I have noticed 2 things that are happening alot. If I am not mistaken speeds above 150 MPH and contact with the ground will result in a death. The past 4 days while attacking planes in high speed turns on the deck I have taken a wing off or cut the plane in half sending the plane cartwheeling and as I look back I see that the plane has gently fallen to the ground and the pilot ditch. In 4 days Sept 19th to the 23th this has happened a total 15 times at speeds of over 350 MPH. I am not the only person that has seen this and I have heard other fliers ssay it has happened to them also. The second thing I am seeing is in GV combat I see what appears to be rounds will look like they totally miss you and BOOM your toast no sound of a hit just haven a cup of coffee in the tower and reup.

Wrong forum and film is always welcomed...if its prevalent it shouldn't be a problem gather.

I believe it's always been under 200mph to ditch. At least not very far under 200. I've ditched above 150 but also died a bit under 200 forever.
wrongway

did someone sneak a new day in between the 23rd and 24th? :noid

Have not run into the ditch glitch yet did see exactly what you are talking about with GV's this morning though.

I have always thought that it must be 120 mph or slower to get the ditch.

You never hear the bullet that kills you ... instantly.

Should be under Bugs if you want it to get checked out.
150 is the magic number from my experience.

Concur, 150, I ditch alot

Yup 150. I never bother with landing gear
-
I will add that I have seen quite a few hi speed dithces of wingless planes. BUT I have seen it before the patches and have been in a couple lucky ones too

I hate guys that ditch instead of just dying  puk puk puk
The choice whether you can ditch or not should be up to the guy that made you want to ditch. That choice usually depends whether the fight was good, I let guys ditch/go when they should have won instead of myself. I don't when they tried to pick me for instance :furious
This is regarding the now cherished 1 vs 1's.

Im not sure if I understand what you said correctly or not. However I have heard the shot that has killed me while GV'ing before. Infact I have had it happen a few times where im looking at my damage list as im hit and something like "Turret" or "Engine" will turn red a microsecond before I am towered.
-
Could have sworn I've crashed faster than 150mph and lived to ditch.

i have too i think. i think it has a little with the angle that you hit the ground at. i remember expecting to end up in the tower, but instead, just skidding through the trees, perfroming a sapp type of landing.
generally when i'm in a low fight, if i see my bogie hit the ground, and i don't see or hear a boom, i tend to pull 'round hard to see if he's tring to ditch, and i will take a shot at him at that point.

Same,
Also I got shot down not long ago flying an hellcat and fell from what I believed to be maybe 20 feet and just tumbled on the floor, then ditched.
What a relief that was. Pickers :cry

You have to remember some of us are fighting on the deck alot. When you can no longer keep your bird airborn you get it down best you can. If your way up at 15k then your usually vertical when you get to the ground. It is the cons job to kill you.... if he fails who's fault is that.
-
Why is it a fault if some one does not kill you? Ive let plenty of pilots rtb or ditch out. Its a game whats the point of spraying lead into a guy that already lost the fight?
-
Maybe the instant death thing isn't based upon speed at contact, but perhaps the G's the game calculated from touching the ground the way you did? Perhaps the cartwheel was a good way to burn speed without pulling too many G's so the pilot lived.
This is all speculation on my part though, I think someone in the HiTech crew would have to speak up to let us know how the system actually works.
