Cool! Thanks for that WW.
I live just 100 miles north of Beale AFB and I have yet to see a U2 in flight.
I did get to see an SR71 when it did a fly by at the local airshow a few years back and that was awesome.
-
Great footage, I'd love to do that someday.
Frequently the U2s that fly out of Beale AFB come over here to Chico and practice flameouts at our airport.
A couple months ago at the Beale Airshow, they had a U2 do a high speed pass at 70k. Just a small contrail to mark its location.

One of my Sqauddies showed me this film, would be awesome being that high :salute

Great video, thanks for sharing the link :aok

Thanks Widewing, you always come up with amazing stuff :aok

Nice find WW. Did I hear that right a 500 ft takeoff roll?
-
104 knots indicated at the edge of space.
I didn't realize it was "Captain Slow" (James May) from Top Gear until the helmet came off.
-
Yep, 500 feet takeoff roll, its closer to a glider than a true jet.

Landing speed of 76 knots....

U2's are usually single seat aircraft, right?
They didn't fabricate that U2 just for Top Gear, did they?!
What an experience, I'm sincerely jealous... :cry
-
U-2 trainer.
-
Youtube blocked for me at work. Is that the James May U2 video?
-
Yes.
-
Wow...thanks for that.
-
fantastic footage, thanks widewing

Utterly unbelievable. Even when viewed through a crappy old video screen, the images they recorded were simply out of this world. I had to pick my jaw up off the desk when they came down from orbit. Thank you so much for linking to that, it completely made my day.
