Yea, I know... this has been asked for before. But rather than necro bump some old post, here's a new one.
We have desert, pacific, European, mountainous, but not once have I seen a SNOWY map in the main arenas.
How about some Russian steppes? The Ardennes? Even take some of the existing maps and just make them snowy? Hell I might not even mind the pizza map so much if we had a snowy version of it... ehh... I take that back, Yeah, I would still hate it.
Im not talking about falling snow (although that would be cool too) I am talking about snowy terrain for us to fly over, and GV around on. Would provide the need to some more winter skins for some of the vehicles too.

+1,000
We even have skins for snow
-
It would not be that hard to convert a terrain thats already updated to the new release.
Gets my vote...

Fly to A1 on that map that's divided into sections by massive mountain walls and three oceans.
-
In AW the Krait Squad made great overlays for the terrain, sky, and air bases.
My favorite was Hedgerows in winter.
The Kraits made the game more fun. One did not have to see the same terrain over and over
as well as the sky.

Hell yes. ;)

I believe Greebo was working on a map with snow. Not sure what the progress has been.

Hi chaps!
There are at least two beautiful snowy terrains in AvA. Borrow them, maybe they may be used in MA... at least EW and MW... but no frame rate complaints, ok?...
That I remember one is Fin-Rus setup, the other is Rhine. Both beautiful... and deadly!
Cheers,
-
You keep advertising the AvA terrains everywhere...AFAIK, they're all two-country terrains and therefor are invalid for any MA use.
-
I am one of the shareholders and I have a huge participation in profits. :D
All AvA maps may have the chess pieces redistributed in the settings. Actually, you can see for yourself, take a look at the Greece map currently on. 512 miles by 512 miles of map and you have all 3 chess pieces. Of course, one is reduced to near nothing just for arena functionality. When toolshedders and score-freaks decide to milk run these "neutral" country bases they completely pork the arena.
I'm serious about it, if you never saw the maps I am talking about, you're losing something interesting. If you did and didn't like it, you have all others to satisfy yourself.
Not promoting one thing or another. Only sharing what I find a very well done job by a very dedicated small team of people that creates the air, sea and land space where you spend your time.
Next time you fly around, remember them.

I currently don't have an account due to the bank being full of tools. In any case, I remembered the AVA using unbalanced terrains. Anything that doesn't have a near-equal number of fields in near-equal positions as soon as the terrain is loaded (without any base shuffling) can't be an MA terrain.
The problem also comes in the filesize. Custom tiles increase the map's size by quite a bit, and hence they don't allow custom tiles, textures, and objects into the MAs. That means they would have to come up with a standardized snow texture palette...

If you are lucky. ill let you have Christmas :devil

I have an idea. If you want to have snow, you have to go overboard, how about some POLAR BEARS! I mean there's nothing like seeing one of those beasties tear the top off of a wirble and eat the driver. That would just be hilarious! Here's how we could kill two birds with one stone:
Instead of herds of sheep on the maps, we have one polar bear per herd! Total annihalation will ensue! For...
Oh my dear, defenders beware,
the auto-ack won't shoot at this hungry bear!
For with bloody lips flapping
necks will be a-snapping
And you will be next in it's snare!

Oh we will have snow... yes we will

My favorite was the Tunisian desert with the desert sky. With the exception of the P-38J, I had all the ETO birds in desert camo skins with the Tunisian map.

If you want desert, you must have snakes, and elephants, don't forget the elephants!
How about you have snakes which roam around bases, looking for food. They will eat anything that moves, including people. Imagine one of those things crawling up in your cockpit! They would give a pilot wound, and spread from plane to plane. They will live in bunkers and multiply quickly if not stopped.
This brings me to elephants. Elephants will wander around in search of food. Unfortunately, the resident officer just loves his salad. They too, will destroy just about anything to eat, except they just stomp through low planes and snap bombers' wings like twigs.
Neary: Hey, did you hear that?
Penguin: What do you mean?
Neary: I mean that trumpeting noise
Penguin: Now that you mention i-*SNAP, elephant destroys both me and Neary*!
System: The Elephant destroyed you, then it stepped on you, and then it laughed (or) [insert snide remark here]
* elephant returns to herd, therby, "landing" *
System: Elephant has found 2 salads, Elephant wants more...

I suspect the OP had something a little closer to this in mind.

I'm sure there was snow on the mountains i was flying over the other night. Maybe I was just really drunk.

cheers :aok :salute
I would love snow but would it effect GVs at all? Such as tracks in the ground. :salute

Why not? :aok

Now that would be cool... but it's a whole 'nother wish :)
And yes... those pics are just the type of snow I am talking about. Not just snow capped mountains that would take a week just to get a GV up to... entire maps of snow :aok

I really like how this snow looks. It's not dead winter, but late Fall, maybe.

lets keep AH a drug free place (80's joke). As it is i cant stand the sun, now you want sun and sunlight reflecting on the snow. I'll go blind faster than watching midget wrestling.

Would get the 110, 87, and 88 winter camo skins some use. All I use them for is taunting an enemy with a white target....
And it would make aiming harder since: hey, white on white is harder to see.

On the subject of mountains, let's get some Yeti's going! If you think about it, there's nothing more dangerous than a semi-sentient humanoid walking through a base!
And let's not stop there, oh no, let's make them multiply on an exponential scale! First there would be 20 (genetic diversity), with unique traits (domestic, aggressive, suicidal, deranged breeder). Then there would be
According to the equation where, for all natural numbers {1,2,3,4...1,000...}
x= new day's number of Yeti's
R= percentage increase per Yeti
I= increase in number
T= time of breeding
P= previous day's number of Yeti's
x= R*I*P*T*
This increase would be compound, thus resulting in an exponential growth of Yeti's
For non-exponential growth, substitute original number of Yeti's for x
