Heavy rains brought by tropical storm "Ondoy" flood Manila
MANILA, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rains brought by tropical storm "Ondoy" flooded Philippine capital Manila and its sounding areas, causing some domestic flights to get canceled and traffic paralyzed on Saturday.
According to Philippine government agencies, heavy rains have poured without let-up in Metro Manila since dawn Saturday, causing massive flooding across the metropolis, and floods have reached chest level in some areas.
An initial report of the government's National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) said at least 493 people in Metro Manila have been evacuated so far while 260 families in Rizal were affected by flooding.
Government-run dzRB radio reported floods were chest-deep in San Isidro village in Antipolo City, while floods also threatened residents in Marikina City.
Meanwhile, at least four domestic flights were canceled since 6 a.m., including flights of Zest Air to and from Manila to San Josein Mindoro; and to and from Manila and Caticlan in Aklan.

We saw the storm approaching and started to get a care package put together and of course it means a visit to WU to help with replanting of rice and other things.

No Im not there but we are planning on going this October to see family. I meant we saw it on the weather news (internet).

My wife has a cousin in Metro Manila who said she went to see the damage shortly after the storm passed and the people were cheering because the U.S. Marines will bringing food and aid ashore. Three missing nephews showed up finally so no worries there but still... this storm made Katrina look like a water park ride from the damages they are reporting.

This really was a very bad typhoon that hit them. A lot of folks there are suffering, and have lost their homes. It is said that mud covers everything.
