Title: Gunner's Information File-Air Forces Manual no.20 - Aircraft Recognition
Post by: TequilaChaser on September 29, 2009, 01:37:40 PM
I scanned and converted this to PDF file from my very old Gunner's Manual for the B-29

was given this long ago while working at a clients house, he was a tail gunner on a B-17 then switched to the B-29.....

once he found out what my hobby was ( AW  back then ) he immediately opened up to me and he told me his war storys....then gave me this manual when I was done working at his home.....

this is only the Aircraft Recognition section.   might finish some other parts later on.......

ENJOY!

Nice TC,

don't mind at all, anyone is welcomed to save a copy of this, if they wish to!   :salute

notice that they did not include the plane data charts for any of the allied aircraft pages in the manual, I can understand there was no reason to, but wished they had just the same.....

TC,

Did not realize we had a dedicated file section. I have several PDF's scanned - off the top of my head the P-47N, P-38L, P47D-40, P-40, A-26, and a few others from my private collection. I discussed with Skuzzy years ago about having a section to put these up but that was years ago. Has this changed?

Interesting to see which Axis and Allied aircraft they chose to include.  Also interesting notes about the protection on the Ki-61 and the less effective protection on the Ki-44.  Reading the link that Baumer provided it claims that the Ki-44-II had improved protection.

Ok...very interesting piece of information that is a bit off in that book...and if that same book was passed around to fighter pilots as well...could explain some things.

Page A5 - FW190 -A3 - in 1944? Slow military intel...as usual.

Probably should have been a little more "generic" in their model descriptions.

Fun stuff to look at though.

G'Mornin Wolfala,
I would guess that the AHwiki might be the best place for that...in regards to posting linked PDF files or uploading them per plane type...... might want to check with HTC/Skuzzy &/or Murdr ( I know Murdr is one of the moderators over Plane/training data )

I just used my trainers FTP access to host this, since I am showing /sharing it here to the AH Community ( and because I was stupid and did not backup my squad FTP info to install on this HD rofl )

I would be grateful to see those pdf files if you care to share them...... ~S~
